As our company continues to grow, we're looking to add an experienced Self-Guided Carpenter who can take ownership of assigned work and complete residential remodeling tasks efficiently and professionally with limited supervision. This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for an experienced carpenter who understands residential construction, can evaluate the task in front of them, determine the appropriate approach, and execute quality work without requiring constant instruction.

Based out of Schuylerville, NY, with residential projects throughout the Capital Region, typically within approximately one hour of Schuylerville Position Overview We're looking for a dependable and experienced carpenter who can contribute productively to residential remodeling projects from day one. A Self-Guided Carpenter with Medial Construction Services should be capable of receiving a project scope, plans, measurements, or direction from management and carrying out assigned carpentry work with limited day-to-day supervision . You should be able to assess existing conditions, plan your work, accurately lay out and measure materials, make appropriate cuts, complete installations, recognize when something isn't right, and troubleshoot common jobsite conditions. We're not expecting you to know absolutely everything. We are expecting you to know when you can proceed independently and when a condition requires clarification before moving forward. Our projects vary considerably, so versatility and residential remodeling experience are important. Projects may include kitchens, bathrooms, basements, additions, decks, siding, windows and doors, framing, trim, finish carpentry, and whole-home renovations. Responsibilities Independently perform residential framing and general carpentry Complete trim and finish carpentry to a professional standard Install windows and exterior/interior doors Perform deck construction and exterior carpentry Perform siding and exterior renovation work Complete demolition and reconstruction Accurately measure, lay out, cut, fit, and install building materials Read and work from project scopes, drawings, plans, specifications, and measurements Determine appropriate means and methods for routine carpentry tasks Safely and confidently operate common hand and power tools Identify jobsite conditions that may affect the planned scope of work Troubleshoot routine construction issues and make sound field decisions Communicate with management when unforeseen conditions or scope questions arise Coordinate effectively with other crew members and licensed trade specialists Properly handle and organize construction materials Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites Follow company safety procedures and OSHA best practices Properly maintain company tools and equipment Communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, management, and trade partners Arrive consistently, punctually, and prepared for the workday Required Qualifications Applicants must meet the following requirements: 3-5+ years of hands-on residential carpentry or remodeling experience preferred Strong working knowledge of residential construction methods Ability to perform carpentry work independently with limited supervision Ability to accurately measure, lay out, cut, fit, and install materials Strong framing and general carpentry fundamentals Experience with trim and finish carpentry Comfortable and competent using common hand and power tools Ability to understand and follow written project scopes and construction plans Ability to sequence assigned work efficiently Ability to identify problems before they become larger issues Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Good judgment regarding when to proceed independently and when to seek clarification Dependable, punctual, and consistent attendance Valid driver's license Reliable personal transportation to and from jobsites Smartphone for company timekeeping and communication Ability to lift and carry 75+ pounds when necessary Ability to perform physically demanding construction work Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions Professional attitude and ability to work respectfully in occupied client homes Preferred Experience Well-rounded experience across several of the following areas is strongly preferred: Residential remodeling Wood framing Finish carpentry and trim Window and door installation Deck construction Siding and exterior work Drywall installation and repair Kitchen remodeling Bathroom remodeling Basement finishing Flooring Additions Reading construction drawings and plans Material takeoffs and jobsite layout OSHA 10 certification is preferred.
