Sep 1, 2026 Job Description Carpenter @ Maintenance Department Job Description Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and some electrical systems. Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment. Listens for unusual sounds from machinery or equipment to detect malfunctions and discusses machine variations with supervisors or maintenance department staff to diagnose problem or repair. Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts. Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery. May operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts. Fabricates and repairs counters, desks, partitions and other wooden structures. Ability to repair roofs, and plumbing Ability to build cabinets. Ability to work concrete Ability to repair and remove asbestos and like materials. Ability to provide locksmith services. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly. Work inside and outside in varying weather conditions and temperatures Other duties as assigned by Maintenance Department supervisor. Minimum Qualifications High School graduate, or GED. Valid Washington State driver's license. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules/manuals, operating and maintenance instructions. Apprentice trade skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, welding or painting with experience in and/or knowledge of the others. Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties and requirements. Physically able to lift and/or move up to 30-50 pounds frequently. Ability to focus (adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus), clear vision at twenty (20) inches or less, and clear vision at twenty (20) feet or more. Must obtain forklift certification, aerial lift certification, platform lift certification, and CPR within probationary period (90 work days from hire date). Terms of Employment
