Recurring monthly work SCUBA Diver / Yacht Hull Cleaner
  • 50+ Recurring Boats Swift Marine Yacht Management is looking for an experienced, dependable diver to help service our growing list of yacht and boat hull-cleaning customers throughout the Charleston area.
Swift Marine currently has more than 50 recurring diving contracts that need to be serviced every month, with more customers being added as we grow. You'll work on everything from center consoles and sailboats to large, multi-million-dollar yachts at marinas throughout Charleston. This Is Not Recreational Diving Hull cleaning is physical, demanding work. You'll spend your time underwater scrubbing marine growth, cleaning running gear, inspecting hulls, replacing zincs when needed, and working around docks and boats in conditions that are not always ideal. The work continues year-round, including during the winter. What You'll Be Doing Your work may include: You will need your own diving equipment and transportation to and from marinas Cleaning boat and yacht hulls underwater Cleaning props, shafts, rudders and other running gear Removing barnacles and marine growth Inspecting hulls and underwater components Replacing zinc anodes when requested Taking underwater photos or videos when needed Reporting damage or maintenance issues found underwater Communicating professionally with yacht owners, captains and marina personnel Helping Swift Marine build relationships with potential customers You should also be comfortable talking with people. You'll regularly interact with boat owners, captains, brokers and marina staff while working. Swift Marine may provide flyers or business cards for you to carry. If someone expresses interest in our services, we expect you to be comfortable referring them to the company and passing along information when appropriate. Required Diving Experience Applicants must have: A minimum of Open Water SCUBA certification At least 50-100 hours of actual diving experience Strong swimming ability and confidence underwater Experience diving in low-visibility conditions The ability to perform physically demanding work underwater Reliable transportation Good communication skills A dependable, professional work ethic This is not an entry-level position for someone who was recently certified. You need to be comfortable and experienced in the water. You Must Have Your Own Diving Equipment Because this is a 1099 subcontractor position, you are expected to provide and maintain the professional diving equipment needed to perform the work, including: SCUBA tanks Regulators BCD Mask and fins Wetsuit or other exposure protection Weights Required safety equipment Hull-cleaning tools and related equipment can be provided Your equipment must be properly maintained and appropriate for the conditions and work involved. Independent Subcontractor Position This is a 1099 independent subcontractor position. You will be responsible for your own equipment, transportation, taxes, insurance, certifications and other expenses related to working as an independent diving professional. You will also be required to sign a subcontractor agreement that includes confidentiality, customer non-solicitation and other provisions. Opportunity to Grow Swift Marine Yacht Management is continuing to expand throughout the marine industry. In addition to diving and hull cleaning, we provide yacht detailing, yacht management, fiberglass and gelcoat repair, mechanical services, electrical services, HVAC and other yacht-maintenance services. For the right person, there may be opportunities to take on additional boats, earn more as the diving division grows and eventually take on more responsibility within our diving operations.
