Location:
Long Beach, California | Full-Time Reports to: Chief Estimator / VP of Preconstruction About the Role Our client, an established general contractor with a strong Southern California presence, is seeking a Senior Estimator with deep concrete construction experience to lead estimating on commercial, industrial, and public works projects. This is a hands-on role for an estimator who knows concrete inside and out — from site concrete and flatwork to structural and tilt-up — and wants ownership over pricing strategy and bid outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead full-scope estimates for concrete-intensive projects, including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, and proposal development. Prepare detailed estimates for site concrete, flatwork, structural concrete, tilt-up, and related scopes. Review drawings, specifications, and geotechnical reports to identify scope, risk, and cost drivers. Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing. Analyze alternative means and methods, value engineering opportunities, and constructability to sharpen competitiveness. Present estimates and lead bid reviews with clients, partners, and senior management. Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and repeat clients to expand bid opportunities. Track material pricing trends (concrete, rebar, forming systems) to keep estimates current and competitive. Hand off winning bids to project management and field operations with clear scope, schedule, and means and methods. Support preconstruction efforts including scheduling, submittals, and buyout. Mentor junior estimators and contribute to improving estimating processes and tools. Qualifications 8+ years of estimating experience with a strong focus on concrete construction (site concrete, flatwork, structural, and/or tilt-up). Advanced knowledge of concrete means, methods, mix designs, and equipment/crew productivity rates. Proven track record of winning competitively bid and negotiated work. Established relationships with Southern California concrete subcontractors and suppliers a strong plus. Proficiency with estimating/takeoff software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, PlanSwift), Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience. Strong communication skills and a detail-oriented, team-first mindset. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job walks across Southern California.Pay:
$130,000.00- $170,000.
