Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic construction team as a Concrete Masonry Estimator and play a vital role in shaping successful commercial projects through precise and comprehensive cost analysis. In this energetic role, you will leverage your construction industry experience to evaluate project requirements, prepare detailed estimates, and collaborate with clients and project teams to ensure accurate budgeting and resource allocation. Your expertise will help drive project success from initial planning through to completion, fostering strong client relationships and ensuring cost-effective solutions. Duties Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to interpret material requirements and project scope accurately. Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and other construction management tools to prepare detailed cost estimates for concrete masonry work. Conduct material cost estimating by analyzing blueprints and technical drawings to determine quantities and pricing for concrete blocks, mortar, reinforcement materials, and related supplies. Manage project budgets by developing comprehensive estimates that include labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs. Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Collaborate with project managers, clients, and design teams to review bids, clarify scope details, and ensure alignment on project expectations. Monitor ongoing projects for cost control, updating estimates as needed based on change orders or unforeseen site conditions. Read construction drawings thoroughly to identify potential issues early and provide solutions that optimize costs without compromising quality. Use spreadsheets and estimation tools like Xactimate or HeavyBid to organize data efficiently for accurate reporting. Ensure all estimates comply with contractual requirements and industry standards while maintaining transparency with clients. Experience Proven experience in managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry, specifically in concrete masonry or related trades. Strong proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate, and construction management platforms. Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and estimating material requirements from blueprints. Demonstrated ability in cost management, including material cost estimating, budgeting, pricing strategies, and cost control techniques. Solid understanding of contracts, negotiation skills with suppliers/subcontractors, and client communication best practices. Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand onsite conditions impacting estimates. Familiarity with construction drawing review processes and the ability to identify potential issues early in the planning phase. Excellent skills in managing spreadsheets for detailed data analysis and reporting purposes. Knowledge of construction industry standards related to masonry work is a plus.
