In this energetic role, you will assist skilled concrete specialists in creating durable, aesthetically pleasing curbing, edging, and hardscape features. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will contribute to high-quality projects that enhance neighborhoods, commercial properties, and public spaces. This paid position offers hands-on experience in concrete work, construction safety, and site preparation, perfect for those eager to build a rewarding career in the construction industry. Responsibilities Assist with the preparation and setup of concrete forms, ensuring they are correctly aligned according to project specifications. Support the mixing and pouring of concrete using mixers and other power tools, adhering strictly to safety protocols. Help install rebar and other reinforcement materials to strengthen curbing structures before pouring concrete. Operate hand tools and power tools safely to cut, shape, and finish concrete surfaces for smooth, professional results. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction plans to understand project requirements and specifications. Participate in the installation of formwork and ensure proper curing of concrete for durability and quality. Maintain a clean and organized worksite by removing debris, securing tools, and following safety regulations at all times. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate basic construction equipment safely. Experience with construction estimating to assist in project planning and material needs. Knowledge of hardscape techniques including concrete forming, cutting, finishing, and sealing. Familiarity with blueprint reading and interpretation of technical drawings for accurate project execution. Hands-on experience with concrete pouring, mixing, cutting, finishing, and pumping systems. Understanding of construction workplace safety regulations to ensure a secure environment for all team members. Proficiency with hand tools such as trowels, chisels, hammers; power tools including saws, drills, mixers; and heavy equipment operation when needed. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining focus on detail during installation tasks like rebar placement or formwork construction. Experience working on diverse construction projects including restoration, renovation, masonry, drywall installation or roofing is a plus. Excellent teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards learning new techniques related to concrete work and hardscape installation.
