We specialize in additions, whole-home remodels, kitchens, basements, and custom homes. Our projects are often in older homes where careful work, creative problem-solving, and attention to detail matter. We are a small company that takes pride in craftsmanship and are looking for a finish carpenter who feels the same way. If you take pride in your work, notice the details others miss, and want to put your craftsmanship into high-quality residential projects, we'd like to hear from you. Doors, casing, base, crown, wainscoting, and other finish details. Built-ins and custom finish work. Precision demolition when needed, carefully protecting existing structures and finishes that will remain. Reading plans, layouts, measurements, and project details. Job-site preparation and material handling related to the subcontracted scope. Maintaining a clean and organized work area. Identifying job-site challenges and using sound judgment to develop quality solutions. Completing agreed-upon scopes of work to a high standard of craftsmanship. What We're Looking For 5+ years of residential finish/trim carpentry experience. Demonstrated high-level craftsmanship and attention to detail. Strong problem-solving skills and good judgment. Reliable, professional, and committed to quality. Ability to read and understand plans and project details. Owns and maintains quality tools and equipment appropriate for the work. Valid Iowa driver's license and reliable transportation. Established business or willingness to operate as an independent subcontractor. Appropriate business licensing, insurance, and documentation required to perform subcontracted work. Compensation $35-$45+ per hour, based on experience, skill level, and scope of work. For certain projects, RCI may also consider fixed-price bids by scope rather than hourly compensation. Subcontractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, tools, equipment, transportation, and other business expenses. Why Partner With RCI? High-quality residential remodeling and custom construction projects. Variety of interesting finish-carpentry work rather than repetitive production work. Small-company environment where craftsmanship is valued. Clear project scopes and expectations. Opportunity for ongoing subcontracting work for the right partner. Work with a company that takes pride in doing things the right way. Interested? If you're a finish carpenter who takes pride in your craftsmanship and is interested in partnering with RCI Builders, we'd like to hear from you. Please tell us about your experience, the type of finish work you specialize in, and the areas you serve.
