Position Description The Underground Utilities Foreman is responsible for leading and directing an underground utility construction crew while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Miller Utilities' quality standards. The Foreman serves as the primary field leader for the crew and is responsible for coordinating daily operations, managing manpower and equipment, communicating with project management, and maintaining a productive and professional jobsite. The Foreman is expected to lead by example, take ownership of the crew's performance, and create a culture centered around Strive for Excellence, Focus on Results, and Ensure Customer Success . Core Responsibilities Crew Leadership Lead, direct, and develop assigned underground utility crews. Set clear expectations for productivity, quality, safety, and jobsite conduct. Assign daily tasks and ensure crew members understand their responsibilities. Hold crew members accountable for performance and following Miller Utilities standards. Train and mentor operators, laborers, and developing foremen. Lead by example through a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and professional behavior. Daily Jobsite Operations Review project plans, drawings, specifications, and daily work requirements. Plan and coordinate daily production activities with the Project Manager. Ensure the crew has the materials, equipment, tools, locates, and information needed to perform the work. Coordinate work around existing utilities, traffic, property owners, and other contractors. Identify potential conflicts or jobsite issues before they impact production. Maintain an organized, clean, and professional jobsite. Coordinate restoration activities and ensure completed work meets project requirements. Production & Quality Drive daily production while maintaining quality and safety standards. Monitor crew productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency. Ensure installations are completed according to plans, specifications, and Miller Utilities standards. Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies before moving on. Minimize rework, material waste, downtime, and unnecessary equipment usage. Communicate production challenges and schedule impacts to the Project Manager. Safety Maintain overall responsibility for safe daily crew operations. Conduct and participate in daily jobsite safety meetings and JHAs. Ensure employees are properly trained and using required PPE. Verify equipment is being operated safely and appropriately. Identify and address unsafe conditions immediately. Stop work when necessary to protect employees, the public, utilities, property, or the project. Promote a culture where employees are expected to speak up about safety concerns. Equipment & Materials Ensure company equipment is operated properly and maintained in good working condition. Complete daily equipment inspections and report mechanical issues immediately. Monitor equipment usage and prevent unnecessary damage or abuse. Coordinate equipment needs with Field Enablement and Project Management. Maintain control of materials, tools, and supplies assigned to the crew. Communicate material shortages or equipment needs before they affect production. Communication Maintain consistent communication with the Project Manager and Field Enablement. Provide accurate daily updates regarding production, manpower, equipment, materials, and jobsite issues. Communicate changes in scope, field conditions, utility conflicts, and customer concerns. Work professionally with inspectors, customers, subcontractors, utility owners, and other contractors. Communicate expectations clearly to all crew members. Documentation & Accountability Complete daily reports and required project documentation accurately and on time. Track quantities installed and provide accurate production information. Document changes in field conditions and additional work. Report damage, incidents, delays, or other significant issues immediately. Ensure time, production, and equipment information is accurately reported. Assist Project Management with tracking completed quantities for billing. Strong understanding of underground utility installation practices. Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications. Ability to operate or effectively direct the operation of construction equipment. Strong leadership and communication skills. Ability to identify underground utility conflicts and changing field conditions. Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions. Valid driver's license. Production efficiency, labor utilization, material usage, and minimizing unnecessary costs. Leadership Standard The Foreman is the leader of the crew in the field . The expectation is not simply to complete the work, but to understand why the work is being performed, what the project needs to accomplish, and how the crew can safely and efficiently get there . Foremen are expected to take ownership of their crew, their equipment, their production, their quality, and their jobsite. When something goes wrong, the expectation is to identify the problem, communicate it, and help develop the solution.

Pay:

$32.00 - $55.00 per hour
