Job Description

Position Summary The Excavation Laborer supports daily septic, excavation, and site-preparation projects. This is a hands-on position that works alongside the owners and various contractors to complete residential and light commercial projects safely, efficiently, and professionally. The ideal candidate is dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, able to perform a variety of physical and general labor tasks, and able to operate equipment and dump trucks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with septic system installations, repairs, replacements, and maintenance projects. Assist with excavation and site preparation for septic systems, foundations, utilities, drainage, and other projects. Perform general labor tasks, including digging, grading, shoveling, raking, hauling, loading, and spreading materials. Assist equipment operators with excavation activities and work safely around heavy machinery. Help prepare and maintain job sites before, during, and after projects. Assist with installation of septic tanks, drain fields, pipes, fittings, and related components. Use hand tools and basic equipment safely and appropriately. Load, unload, organize, and transport tools, equipment, pipe, gravel, soil, and other materials. Perform cleanup and restoration of work areas, including backfilling, grading, and removing excess materials. Follow directions from the owners and communicate effectively with team members. Maintain tools, equipment, vehicles, and job-site materials in an orderly condition. Follow company safety procedures and use appropriate personal protective equipment. Maintain a professional and respectful relationship with customers while working on residential properties. Perform other duties as needed to support the day-to-day operations of the business. Qualifications Previous construction, excavation, septic, landscaping, farming, or general labor experience preferred but not required. Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, and working around equipment. Dependable, punctual, and willing to learn new skills. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a small team. Strong attention to safety and willingness to follow established procedures. Valid commercial drivers license preferred. Experience operating skid steers, excavators, loaders, or other construction equipment is a plus. Willing to work around gravel production operations and obtain MSHA training. Work Environment This position involves working primarily outdoors at residential and construction sites. Work may include exposure to dirt, dust, mud, uneven terrain, noise, heavy equipment, and changing weather conditions. The position requires the ability to safely work around excavation equipment and septic installation activities. What We Offer Opportunity to learn multiple aspects of septic and excavation work.
