Job Description

JC Ramsdell Enviro Services, Inc., an environmental remediation contractor in Rome, NY, seeks a Construction Laborer to support petroleum and hazardous material cleanup, tank removal and installation, and site remediation projects. In this field-based role, you'll perform physical labor including excavation, site cleanup, material handling, and basic equipment operation. Working closely with experienced technicians, you'll follow strict safety and regulatory procedures, use PPE, and assist with containment, decontamination, and waste handling. This position offers hands-on training, growth in environmental construction skills, and the chance to help protect communities and natural resources. Responsibilities Perform physical labor on environmental construction and remediation sites Assist with soil excavation, site cleanup, and waste handling Support underground and aboveground storage tank removal and installation Operate basic hand and power tools and support equipment under supervision Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and supplies Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and regulatory procedures Assist with site setup, containment, and decontamination tasks Support sampling, documentation, and proper labeling of materials Work outdoors in varied weather and physically demanding conditions Travel to project sites throughout the region as required Required Skills Construction site safety practices Use of hand and power tools Hazardous materials handling basics Understanding of environmental remediation work Reading and following work orders and safety procedures Basic equipment and vehicle loading/unloading Use of PPE and decontamination procedures Following OSHA and environmental regulations under supervision Basic recordkeeping and labeling of materials Physical labor including lifting, digging, and working in adverse conditions
