Seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations on complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all on-site construction activities while ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who excels at developing teams, solving problems in the field, coordinating subcontractors and resources, and delivering successful projects that uphold GSE's reputation for craftsmanship, partnership, and operational excellence.
Project Kick OffProvide input to PM for CPM scheduleProvide input to PM for various project plans & submittalsReview contract documents and develop work plans for the three major phases of GSE's work: civil/underground, structural concrete & mechanicalAttend preconstruction meetingLiaison with all site utilities providers and setup all temporary facilitiesOverall responsibility for project mobilization including providing direction to project support regarding all tools & equipment neededUSA & pothole the site as needed including thorough documentationImplement SWPPP measuresCoordinate with and responsible for survey & layoutProject ExecutionCapable of running a large projectRequired to notify the PM and if necessary, the management whenever something on the project of a significant nature could impact the safety of personnel, efficacy of the work, schedule, profitability or reputation & standing of GSEExpected to be knowledgeable, curious, and studious regarding all aspects of the construction of water & wastewater facilities Assist the PM in developing the plan and direction for the work on the projectPrepare weekly wish lists that reflect equipment & manpower requirementsPrepare three week look ahead schedules for weekly meetingsSets the overall direction for the crews on the project implementing the work plan, helping to trouble shoot and provide direction for field foreman & crewsJob site hiring and dismissal of field personnelResponsible for written discipline of job site employeesResponsible for building and maintaining a project team that successfully completes the project and enhances GSE's long term capacityMonitor project budgets, accountable for the profitability of the projectsCreating weekly timecards through Procore including proper phase codes for work performed on time and accuratePerform the work in accordance with the CPM schedule and with the PM ensure that the project is on or ahead of schedule, over billed and with a positive % billed vs. % time ratioHelp as needed with the processing of submittalsCreate, log & track RFIsCreate, log, track PCOs including daily work tags filled out accurately, timely and signed by the client representativeEnsure that the work is performed in accordance with the contract documents including RFIs, COs and engineer's written directivesMaintain for record drawings and documentation including all pothole data, RFIs, COs & engineer's written directivesEnsure that apprentices are requested in accordance with DAS 140 requirementsAuthor some project related correspondence as neededResponsible for field purchasing of materials, tools & suppliesResponsible for scheduling & coordinating subcontractors and enforcing subcontract terms & conditionsAssist as needed in maintaining the bill of materials, ensuring that all materials are on site as scheduled for the workApprove project invoices through PVaultAttend and as necessary conduct job site meetings with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and employeesConduct weekly safety meetings, safety sweeps and JHAs including documentationMaintain SWPPS including training, sampling, inspections, and documentationResponsible for maintaining all job site safety including first aid kits, PPE, notifications & posters, MSDS & IIPPResponsible for training and assisting project engineers, foreman and job site administrative staffResponsible for ensuring safe work practices including preplanning and engineering measures for safetyWork with PM & support to ensure that the correct equipment (including form systems) is on site, maintained and appropriately utilized minimizing rentals and maximizing productivityResponsible for managing the foreman & crews in all their duties relative to the projectResponsible for housekeeping and ensuring that the operations are well planned and effectively & efficiently implemented (i.e., handling excavated material one-time, proper layout, limited rework, appropriate shoring & dewatering etc.)Ensure that the project is built in accordance with the contract documents and industry standards and functions for its intended useBe a primary face of GSE upholding our corporate culture and vision and as much as it depends upon GSE to leave the project with our excellent reputation for partnering and craftsmanship in place or enhancedUltimately responsible with the PM for everything that happens on your projectProject CloseoutAssist with coordination & execution of startup & commissioningResponsible for maintaining and satisfying final punch list with the owner's representativeAssist in the completion of GSE internal project closeout documentation
