Learn more at Position Overview The Assistant Preconstruction Manager provides project pursuit and pre-mobilization planning efforts while representing BUILD Renewables as an initial Client / Relationship Manager. This individual will be responsible for managing assigned pursuits, contracting and risk mitigation, estimating strategy, engineering review and optimization initiative, procurement support and general understanding of overall project execution and the associated preconstruction planning. Essential Functions Responsible for preconstruction planning for renewable energy construction projects. Lead the assigned estimating, engineering and procurement Project team. Builds relationships with vendors, suppliers, engineering partners, customers and other company departments in support of resolving issues during design and/or pre-bid phases. Manage the communication directly with the customers during the preconstruction phase of the project. Review drawings, specifications and all other construction documents and communicate issues, accuracy of information, and potential risks in a timely manner. Lead estimating process and leads the presentation to the customer. Responsible for the completeness of estimates and assists with suggestions for modifications relating to margin enhancement. Lead design meetings and manage our engineering partners in support of generating of the IFC design documents, as bid. Support regional leadership with review and comment of draft EPC Agreement and scope-of-work documents necessary for Project sales. Assure that potential risk factors related to engineering, procurement and project execution have been evaluated and reviewed with Leadership. Support the Executive with change orders, including the assembly, cost assessment, schedule impacts, and preparation of claims. Interpret the project schedule to identify required equipment delivery dates, pricing, submittals, approval and procurement schedules. Provide oversight for budget and financial management for assigned projects. Manage and lead the pursuit and engineering phase for up to two (2) projects simultaneously. Communicate and reinforces team expectations based upon corporate objectives. Create and maintain a continuous improvement loop to monitor performance and improvement opportunities. Coordinate with project stakeholders from middle management to C-level stakeholders. Develop high performance BUILD Renewables teams thru supervision, training, coaching and mentoring. All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering related field. Five (3) years of experience in Project Management or Engineering of construction. Prior experience working on utility scale renewable energy projects, specifically Solar, is preferred. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively at a Manager level, written and verbal. Demonstrated ability to professionally interact with clients, BUILD Renewables personnel, subcontractors and suppliers. Demonstrated ability to effectively self-manage, execute and prioritize under schedule constraints. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Bluebeam and construction related software programs. Ability to identify, elevate and assist with solving problems related to project pursuits, proposals, design, construction planning, procurement and scheduling. Supervise, mentor, coach and provide necessary training to new and existing BUILD Renewables project personnel. Thorough understanding of project management control systems; to include: legal, scheduling, financials, procurement and business development. Must have a valid driver's license. Working Conditions 25% travel is required. Projects are nationally based. Construction Site Environment - physical ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, reach and climb. Exposed to high noise levels. Office Environment - extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
