Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Manager - Street Inspector to lead our team in overseeing public infrastructure construction projects with a focus on street and roadway development. As a key player in civil infrastructure management, you will coordinate inspections, analyze technical drawings, and enforce building code compliance to support the successful delivery of public works projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team) and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive. Conduct street and right-of-way inspections, ensuring the completion of all necessary documentation to maintain accurate records of inspections. Work with the public, contractors, and other stakeholders involved in the street repair and construction process. Read and comprehend construction drawings for streets, sidewalks, trails, waterlines, sewer lines, and drainage infrastructure. Maintain excellent public relations by assuring that public inquiries are answered in a courteous manner and that complaints are responded to promptly and personally. Meet with citizens to coordinate projects; advise and address any questions or complaints. Perform visual site inspections of construction projects, including but not limited to traffic lights, street/road, STEP fields, Stormwater, Parks. Operate heavy equipment as needed Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications Perform other related duties as required or assigned Education and Experience High school diploma or GEN plus four years of experience and 2 years of management experience Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Must possess a valid Arkansas Commercial Driver's License or be able to acquire a CDL within 1 year of initial hire date Obtain necessary IMSA Work Zone certification(s) within 6 months of initial hire date Must obtain Public Infrastructure Inspector Certification within 2 years of date of hire Public Contact Regular contacts with engineers, contractors, news media and general public. Use of Machines, Equipment and/or Computers Proficient in the use of a personal computer and standard office equipment Proficient in the use of heavy machinery as well as handheld power tools (GPS, Laser related equipment) Ability to interpret a variety of city, county, state and federal laws making decisions Must possess a good working knowledge of all ordinances pertaining to street repair and construction, with the ability to apply this knowledge in the enforcement of the same. Environmental Conditions Employee will regularly be exposed to outside weather conditions, traffic hazards and heavy construction equipment. Employee is regularly required to traverse uneven terrain. Employee will occasionally work in confined spaces. Employee will occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of vibration. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
