Job Description

Northfield Township, Michigan, is a vibrant community nestled at the northern edge of Washtenaw County. Job Overview Northfield Township is seeking qualified Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Inspectors to provide back-up and supplemental inspection services for both residential and commercial construction. Back-up/Supplemental Contract Plumbing, Mechanical & Electrical Inspectors Northfield Township, Michigan $60.00 Per Completed Inspection | Fluctuating schedule depending on need - typically Tuesdays and Thursdays| Independent Contract Position Responsibilities Inspect plumbing, mechanical or electrical inspections (depending on discipline) to enforce safety regulations and ensure compliance with all applicable State Codes and local ordinances. Records defective material and workmanship, issues orders for correction of deficits or issues of code related items as necessary and makes re-inspections to ensure compliance. Advises contractors and the general public as to the interpretation of State Code and acceptable installation methods. Reports and documents activities and inspection results, including corrections, to the Township as required. Minimum Requirements Must possess State of Michigan Master license in appropriate discipline Must possess State of Michigan Driver's license Must possess the appropriate State of Michigan registration/credentials required for the inspection discipline being performed. Minimum two-years inspection experience Considerable knowledge of the disciple and the methods, tools and equipment used in the installation of the related equipment. Ability to understand, interpret and explain State Code and Municipal regulations and procedures Ability to read and understand blueprints/plans for discipline Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with contractors, Township staff and the general public. Must be able to provide own transportation

Physical Demands While performing the duties, the inspector is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, stand and walk. They may be required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
