Moraine, OH Job Details Full-time $76,981 - $98,238 a year 1 day ago Qualifications Carpentry Architectural design Outdoor work experience Construction site inspections Employee relationship building High school diploma or GED Residential building construction inspection Driver's License Stakeholder relationship building Full Job Description We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in a variety of technical and administrative work in building and zoning inspections to ensure that the Ohio Building Code and other related codes and standards are met. The Building and Zoning Administrator processes building and zoning certificates, permits, and complaints; as well as conducting field inspections and related duties. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Director of Community Development and/or the City Manager. Applicants will have a thorough knowledge of building plans and blueprints, carpentry work, cement work, mechanical systems and skill in applying knowledge of national/international model building codes, general construction codes, and zoning and land use applications. A high school diploma or GED, and at least three years of experience in building design, construction, and inspection. Five years of related experience preferred. Must hold State of Ohio CBO, Commercial and Residential Building Inspector certifications or must be willing to obtain. Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required. All candidates must be willing to submit to random drug screenings. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, city boards, as well as public and local contractors on inspections, permits, and property maintenance. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle stressful situations. Ability to learn City's geography. Possess a valid Ohio state driver's license. Maintain good physical condition in order to work outdoors under various weather conditions, as well as indoors. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, or sit. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves items of 50 pounds or less or required to stand and/or operate cameras while walking. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Corrective lenses may be worn to aid in specific vision requirements. Requires normal hearing abilities. Must be of good moral character with no disqualifying criminal history. Summary and Purpose This position performs a variety of technical and administrative work in building and zoning inspections to ensure that the Ohio Building Code and other related codes and standards are met. Administrator processes building and zoning certificates, permits, and complaints; as well as conducting field inspections and related duties. Duties are performed under the general supervision of the Director of Community Development or their designee
