Job:

Shearon Environmental Design is seeking a Basin & Stormwater Inspector to join its Design/Civil Engineering team. This primarily field-based position is responsible for inspecting, evaluating, and documenting stormwater management facilities, drainage systems, basins, BMPs, and related site conditions throughout the Delaware Valley region. The position also serves as a key link between Design/Civil Engineering and Shearon's Maintenance and Construction teams, helping translate field observations into practical solutions and potential scopes of work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine, post-storm, and condition-based inspections of stormwater management facilities and related site infrastructure.
• Inspect stormwater basins, BMPs/SCMs, drainage swales, inlets, outlets, conveyance systems, channels, slopes, and discharge points.
• Identify erosion, sedimentation, standing water, drainage issues, stabilization concerns, vegetation problems, structural deficiencies, and other conditions affecting stormwater systems.
• Perform inspections associated with Pennsylvania DEP Chapter 102 and NPDES requirements, as applicable.
• Document site conditions through photographs, field notes, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
• Identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and monitor previously identified issues through completion.
• Recognize conditions that may require additional investigation or services by Civil Engineering, Construction, or Maintenance.
• Perform inspections for HOAs, property managers, commercial properties, institutional clients, and other Shearon clients.
• Meet with property managers, HOA representatives, facility managers, contractors, and other client contacts to understand concerns and explain observed conditions.
• Build strong client relationships through responsive communication and proactive identification of property needs.
• Help clients understand recommended maintenance, repairs, improvements, and long-term stormwater management needs.
• Work closely with Maintenance on basin maintenance, vegetation management, mowing, invasive plant control, landscape improvements, and ongoing property maintenance.
• Coordinate with Construction on erosion repairs, grading, drainage improvements, basin restoration, structural repairs, stabilization, and other site construction.
• Coordinate with Design/Civil Engineering on engineering assessments, stormwater management design, drainage improvements, permitting, restoration projects, and larger capital improvements.
• Identify potential maintenance, repair, restoration, construction, and engineering opportunities during field inspections.
• Work with the appropriate Shearon teams to develop scopes of work based on observed conditions.
• Assist with preparation of proposals, estimates, and recommendations for identified work.
• Gather field information, photographs, measurements, and other documentation needed to develop accurate proposals.
• Help move opportunities from initial field observation through proposal development and, when appropriate, into construction or maintenance.

Qualifications & What We're Looking For:

• Experience in stormwater management, site inspection, construction, civil engineering, environmental services, landscape maintenance, or a related field.
• Working knowledge of stormwater management facilities, drainage systems, erosion and sedimentation control, and BMPs.
• Familiarity with Pennsylvania DEP Chapter 102 and NPDES requirements is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical conditions to clients and coworkers.
• Ability to work independently in the field while managing multiple inspection locations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to accurately document field conditions through reports and photographs.
• Ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, property managers, HOA representatives, and multiple internal departments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Pay:

$28.00 - $33.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 - 40.0 per week
