Crane Operator Operational Efficiency & Process Improvement Operates cranes to lift, move, and place materials and equipment, following safety procedures and guidelines Attaches load to rigging to provide support or prepare for moving using hand and power tools Connects pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts, shackles and clamps Manipulates rigging lines and hoist to move or support materials, steel, concrete etc. Selects gear, shackles and cables according to load size, facilities and work schedule Tests rigging to ensure safety and reliability before engaging in hoisting or lifting Compliance & Day-to-Day Operations Conduct preoperational checks on cranes, rigging, and equipment reporting any issues or defects to supervisors Submit daily, weekly, and monthly crane inspection reports to Crane Superintendent Follow lift plans and instructions from supervisor or flaggers Perform routine maintenance tasks on cranes and equipment as needed Dismantles, maintains and stores rigging equipment Signals or gives verbal directions to workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of workers and materials Ability to respectfully confront people when needed and lead through example Maintain a positive, professional, and respectful attitude in all interactions to foster a productive and collaborative work environment Willingness to travel to construction sites (may require frequent site visits) Other duties as assigned
Requirements/Qualifications:
2+ years of experience operating cranes in construction or heavy industry Strong knowledge of crane operations, safety regulations, and industry standards Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills Proficient in crane controls and instrumentation Experience with crane maintenance and repair procedures OSHA 30 is required Experience with multiple types of cranes Knowledge of rigging and signaling procedures Physical ability to operate crane controls and work at heights Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent communication and teamwork skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a physically demanding environment NCCCO certification (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) TLL certification (Telescopic Boom Cranes—Swing Cab Certification) TSS certification (Telescopic Boom Cranes—Fixed Cab Certification) High school diploma or equivalent RJ Gorman Contracting LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
