What You'll Do

Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed

Participate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture

Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel

Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures

Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures

Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift

Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge, experience, and communication with others

Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE

Duties involve prompt attention to signals for service to avoid bundling and loading delays, using care in picking up loads, clearing obstacles, properly positioning and handling loads, and manipulating levers to avoid excessive swinging

Maintain all aspects of overhead cranes

Exercise care to select and load scrap in accordance with heat requirements and established charge conveyor loading procedures to meet furnace requirements and prevent damage to the conveyor

Inspects scrap and dumping operations

Operate a magnetic crane attachment as required

Operate crane through manipulations of bridge, trolley, hoist and electromagnet controls to pick up scrap metal from Railcars/Pad and transfer to charge conveyor and minimize time loss

What You'll Need

Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills

Ability to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces

Basic computer skills

Must be able to learn quickly and multitask

Willingness to work a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays

Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations

Ability to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time

Demonstrated dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs

Ability to work at heights greater than six feet off of the ground

Knowledge of crane signals required

High School Diploma or GED required
