Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and skilled Horizontal Directional Drill (HDD) Operator to join our dynamic construction team. In this vital role, you will operate specialized drilling equipment to install underground utilities with precision and efficiency. Your expertise will help ensure the successful completion of utility installation projects while adhering to strict safety standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction sites, utilizing your mechanical knowledge and heavy equipment operation skills to deliver quality results. Responsibilities Operate horizontal directional drilling machines safely and efficiently, ensuring accurate underground utility installation. Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of construction machinery, including excavators, loaders, backhoes, and water trucks, to maintain optimal performance. Assist with excavation, grading, and utility locating tasks to prepare sites for drilling operations. Follow all federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Coordinate with team members to execute construction utility work, ensuring project timelines are met. Support construction site activities by operating heavy machinery such as Caterpillar equipment and water trucks as needed. Requirements Proven experience in construction utility work, excavation, or related roles with a focus on directional drilling operations. Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance and troubleshooting. Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial truck driving and water truck operation. Familiarity with utility locating techniques and tools used in underground utility installation projects. Hands-on experience operating heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar machinery. Knowledge of federal construction safety regulations and adherence to safety regulations on job sites. Ability to perform construction grading and site preparation tasks accurately. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
