Driller/Assistant Driller This position involves a combination of fieldwork and office reporting, with primary responsibilities focused on geotechnical exploration, subsurface investigation, drilling operations, and material sampling. We are seeking an experienced Geotechnical Driller, Assistant Driller, or Driller Helper to obtain quality subsurface samples safely and efficiently. Candidates without direct geotechnical drilling experience who have a background operating construction equipment are also encouraged to apply.
Required Certifications:
Well Driller License/Certification (or capability to obtain with company training). CDL Driver's License preferred (capability to obtain is required). OSHA 10-Hour certification
Key Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions:
Drilling & Subsurface Investigation Perform drilling and subsurface sampling using mechanical drilling and hand-boring methods. Execute deep soil sampling, rock coring, and shallow/deep foundation investigations. Assist in geotechnical exploration, including excavating test pits, soil sampling, and site observations. Assist with electrical resistivity surveys and other field investigation methods. Operate site-clearing tools and access equipment (e.g., chain saws, bush axes) to gain entry to boring locations. Equipment & Vehicle Operations Safely operate specialized heavy drill rigs, trailers, and excavating equipment. Drive company-provided vehicles, drill rigs, and trailers in compliance with
IFTA/DOT
guidelines. Prepare tools, equipment, and supplies for daily operations. Inspect, maintain, and perform routine mechanical servicing on drill rigs and trailers.
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience in geotechnical drilling, construction equipment operation, or field mechanical repairs. Ability to read and understand construction documents. Strong communication skills and mechanical aptitude.
Physical Demands:
Part of the job requirements and the physical demands include work performed outdoors in weather conditions with potential exposure to wet/humid conditions, extreme heat or cold, traversing uneven surfaces, and lifting supplies or equipment up to 50 lbs. Pay:
$35.00+ per hour for experiences Lead Driller. $28.00+ per hour for experienced Assistant Driller. Pay is based on experience.
