Overview Join our dynamic team as an HDD Directional Driller and take the lead in executing precise underground utility installations through horizontal directional drilling (HDD) technology. In this vital role, you will operate and oversee the directional drilling process, ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate installation of underground utilities such as water, sewer, telecommunications, and electrical lines. Your expertise will help maintain project momentum while adhering to strict safety standards and construction best practices. Duties Operate and control HDD equipment to drill underground pathways with precision, following project specifications and safety protocols. Coordinate with project managers, surveyors, and ground crews to plan drilling paths and troubleshoot operational issues on-site. Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections of HDD machinery, including loaders, excavators, backhoes, and other construction equipment. Utilize utility locating tools to accurately identify existing underground utilities before drilling begins, preventing damage or service disruptions. Follow federal construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures to ensure a secure work environment for all team members. Assist in excavation and construction grading activities as needed to prepare sites for drilling operations. Maintain detailed records of drilling progress, equipment usage, safety checks, and site conditions throughout each project phase. Qualifications Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators, loaders, backhoes, and Caterpillar equipment in construction or utility work environments. Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic maintenance on HDD equipment and other heavy machinery. Familiarity with construction site safety regulations including federal guidelines for construction safety procedures. Experience with utility locating techniques using specialized tools to identify underground infrastructure accurately. Valid commercial driver's license with experience in commercial truck driving; ability to transport equipment safely between sites. Knowledge of excavation processes, construction grading, and general utility installation practices within the construction industry.
