Position Summary The Derrick Hand is responsible for supporting drilling operations from the derrick and monkey board while maintaining a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and proper handling of drilling equipment and tubulars. The Derrick Hand works closely with the Driller and Rig Crew to ensure safe and efficient tripping, pipe handling, mud system operations, and general rig activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist with the handling, racking, and positioning of drill pipe, casing, and other tubulars. Operate and monitor mud pumps, mud tanks, shakers, and other mud-system equipment as assigned. Monitor drilling fluid levels and report abnormal conditions to the Driller or appropriate supervisor. Assist with maintaining proper mud weight and fluid properties as directed by the Mud Engineer or Driller. Inspect derrick, monkey board, elevators, slips, tongs, lines, and related equipment for proper operation and safe working condition. Assist the Driller and other rig crew members with making and breaking connections and tripping pipe. Maintain a clean and organized work area on the rig floor, derrick, and surrounding areas. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of drilling equipment. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) requirements. Communicate clearly with the Driller, Floorhands, Toolpusher, and other crew members. Identify and report unsafe conditions, equipment problems, spills, or other hazards immediately. Assist with rig moves, rig-up, rig-down, and other operations as required. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Driller or Toolpusher. Qualifications Previous drilling rig experience preferred. Derrick Hand experience preferred; experienced Floorhands may be considered for advancement. Knowledge of drilling operations, tubular handling, and mud systems. Ability to work safely at heights and in physically demanding conditions. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changing operating conditions. Valid driver's license may be required depending on location and company requirements. Must be willing to work extended shifts and rotational schedules. Physical Requirements Ability to climb ladders and work at elevated heights. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials. Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions. Ability to wear required PPE and fall-protection equipment. Must be capable of working safely around heavy machinery, rotating equipment, high-pressure systems, and suspended loads. Work Environment This position is performed primarily on an active drilling rig and involves exposure to noise, vibration, dust, mud, chemicals, heavy equipment, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and varying weather conditions. Strict adherence to company safety policies and industry standards is required. Safety Responsibilities Safety is a fundamental responsibility of the Derrick Hand.

The employee is expected to:

Follow all company, OSHA, and applicable industry safety requirements. Maintain situational awareness and stop work when an unsafe condition exists. Properly inspect and use fall-protection and other safety equipment. Participate actively in the company's safety culture and reporting programs. Immediately report injuries, near misses, equipment failures, and hazardous conditions. Will be local in Cooke County and some locations in Oklahoma, but will be home every night.
