Job Description

Position Overview Virginia Construction Trades Academy is seeking an outgoing and experienced Electrical Instructor who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and preparing the next generation of skilled tradespeople. The ideal candidate will combine real-world electrical experience with a positive, engaging teaching style. This position involves providing hands-on instruction, demonstrating safe and proper work practices, and helping students develop the knowledge, confidence and practical skills needed to begin successful careers in the electrical trade. Responsibilities Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on electrical instruction Teach electrical safety, tools, materials, installation methods and industry best practices Demonstrate electrical techniques and supervise student practice Help students connect classroom concepts to real-world jobsite situations Prepare lessons, activities and practical assessments Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback Maintain a safe, organized and professional training environment Encourage students and serve as a positive role model for the trade Follow academy policies, curriculum requirements and applicable Virginia regulations Required Qualifications Current applicable electrical license or certification through the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) Professional experience working in the electrical trade Strong knowledge of electrical safety, tools, materials and installation practices Outgoing personality with strong communication and leadership skills Genuine passion for teaching and mentoring the next generation Ability to explain technical information in a clear and approachable way Dependable, professional and committed to student success Previous teaching experience is helpful but not required. Bilingual is a plus but not required.
