The Role We are currently seeking a Journeyman Electrician based in the US for thermal remediation field operations. Preferred location is the St. Louis, MO area, or generally in the Midwest region with easy access to a major airport. Key Responsibilities The Journeyman Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-density electrical heating systems (such as In Situ Thermal Desorption or electrical resistance heating) used to vaporize and extract environmental contaminants from soil and groundwater.
Power Distribution Setup:
Install and wire high-capacity 480V/multiphase transformers, generator systems, and temporary power distribution units on environmental job sites.
Thermal Heating Control:
Hook up and maintain thermal blankets, thermal conduction heating (TCH) wells, or electrical resistance heating (ERH) systems.
Instrumentation & Monitoring:
Wire and service programmable temperature controllers, data acquisition units, and soil vapor extraction (SVE) blower motors.
System Troubleshooting:
Diagnose faults in high-draw heating elements, contactors, and automated PLC control panels in harsh field environments.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to the National Electrical Code (NEC/NFPA 70), NFPA 70E arc-flash safety, and site-specific OSHA health and safety plans. Communicate effectively with project engineers, sub-contractors, and clients. Qualifications & Experience Valid Journeyman Electrician license. 5+ years' work experience in industrial operations. Competency in 3-phase power, heavy conduit bending, switchgear, and reading complex electrical schematics. Current
NFPA 70E
certification. Will need to obtain OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper training. Strong work ethic and reliability. Ability to lift up to 55 pounds and perform field work in physically demanding situations. Driver's license with good driving record. Strong written and oral communication skills. Willingness to travel to project sites (up to 75% of the time), primarily in the US but could potentially be international. Must have (or be able to obtain) passport for work-related travel.
