A 1st Class Electronic Technician is responsible to lay out, build, test, install, troubleshoot, repair, and modify electrical and electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.
Essential Functions:
Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Electrical Engineer. Develops sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units. Assembles circuitry, performs terminations or conducts testing according to engineering instructions, technical manuals and knowledge of electronic systems and components. Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance. Sets up standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life cycle tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model. Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance. Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe and illustrate system's operating characteristics, malfunctions, deviations from design specifications, and functional limitations. Checks functioning of newly installed equipment in vessels and structures to evaluate system performance under actual operating condition.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Electronic Technician. Ability to read and interpret drawing, schematics and other electrical/electronic technical documentation. Familiar with applicable commercial and Government specifications and codes. Comprehensive knowledge at component/system start up, testing, troubleshooting and repair.
