Job Title:
BAS Install Technician Job Description The BAS Install Technician (Controls Installer) works on-site under the guidance of a site superintendent and in close collaboration with a professional project team. This role focuses on installing low-voltage building automation and HVAC control systems in commercial facilities, with a strong emphasis on military installations. The position requires solid technical expertise, careful attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality to ensure efficient and reliable installation of complex building automation systems. Responsibilities Install low-voltage building automation and HVAC control systems in commercial facilities, including military installations. Travel full-time to multiple states to perform installation work at various military bases and other project locations. Install conduit up to 1" EMT and rigid, ensuring proper routing, support, and compliance with applicable codes and standards. Install low-voltage cabling and sensors for building automation and HVAC control systems. Install low-voltage control panels for building automation and HVAC systems. Perform wiring and termination of low-voltage control panels and associated devices, ensuring neat, accurate, and reliable connections. Read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints to plan and execute installations accurately. Coordinate daily activities with the site superintendent and project team to meet project schedules and quality expectations. Follow all safety procedures and site-specific requirements while working on military bases and commercial facilities. Support start-up and commissioning activities for building automation and HVAC control systems as needed. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other trades on-site to resolve issues and keep projects on track. Essential Skills 2-4 years of experience in building automation and controls, or 4-6 years of experience in electrical and low-voltage installation. Hands-on experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing building automation and HVAC control systems. Demonstrated ability to install low-voltage systems, including cabling, sensors, and control panels. Experience with wire installation and control installation in construction environments. Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical blueprints. Strong mechanical background or mechanical systems knowledge. Commitment to following safety procedures and site-specific requirements, particularly on military bases and commercial facilities. Willingness and ability to travel full-time to multiple states for project work. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with building automation platforms such as Siemens PLC. Knowledge of Tridium and Niagara-based building automation systems. background in construction environments, including new builds and retrofit projects. Experience with low-voltage systems in commercial facilities. Ability to support commissioning and start-up activities for building automation and HVAC controls. Strong communication skills for coordinating with project teams and other trades. Why Work Here? Work Environment You work primarily on construction sites, including both new build projects and retrofit installations in commercial facilities and military bases. The environment involves hands-on installation of low-voltage systems, conduit, and control panels, often in active construction settings. You collaborate closely with site superintendents, project teams, and other trades while adhering to site-specific safety procedures and standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Beltsville, MD. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
