Position Overview Outerlimits Powerboats is seeking an experienced Marine Systems Electrician to join our manufacturing team in Bristol, Rhode Island. This is a hands-on, full-time position responsible primarily for boat rigging, electrical systems, and installation of customer-selected options and equipment . In addition to executing high-quality installations, this position will play an important role in improving how Outerlimits boats are built. The successful candidate will work closely with the Production and Product Development teams to identify opportunities to improve product performance, reliability, quality, efficiency and material utilization. We are looking for an experienced marine technician who understands that excellent manufacturing is not simply about installing components correctly—it is also about continuously asking: Can we build it better, faster, more reliably and with less waste? Outerlimits is relocating to a new manufacturing facility and making significant investments in new models, tooling and production capabilities. This creates an opportunity for an experienced technician to have a direct influence on the next generation of Outerlimits boats. This is a non-supervisory position . The successful candidate will not be responsible for managing other employees but will be expected to work collaboratively with production, engineering and product-development personnel and to serve as a technical resource for the organization. Key ResponsibilitiesBoat Rigging & Systems Installation Perform complete electrical and systems rigging on high-performance powerboats.

DC electrical systems AC electrical systems where applicable Batteries and battery-management systems Switches, breakers, fuses and electrical panels Navigation and communication equipment Pumps and motors Bilge and livewell systems Lighting systems Stereo and entertainment systems Electronics and displays Trim and control systems Hydraulic components Steering systems Fuel-system components Plumbing and fluid systems Customer-selected options and accessories Perform wiring, termination, crimping, routing, securing and protection of electrical systems. Ensure wiring and components are properly supported, protected and organized. Follow electrical diagrams, installation drawings, specifications and manufacturer requirements. Perform testing and troubleshooting of installed systems. Identify and correct electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and systems-integration issues. Ensure completed installations meet Outerlimits quality standards. Customer Options & Customization Install and integrate customer-selected options and accessories. Understand how different options interact with the boat's existing electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems. Ensure optional equipment is installed cleanly, safely and consistently. Develop repeatable installation methods for frequently selected options. Identify opportunities to standardize option installations and reduce installation time. Document special installations or recurring customer configurations when appropriate. Quality & Reliability The Marine Systems Electrician will have an important role in ensuring the quality and reliability of Outerlimits boats.

Responsibilities include:

Inspect completed work before boats move to the next production stage. Identify potential failures or quality problems before delivery. Troubleshoot recurring electrical and systems issues. Identify root causes rather than simply correcting symptoms. Recommend improvements to wiring, component placement, access, protection and installation methods. Ensure proper labeling and identification of wiring and components. Maintain high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and organization. Minimize rework and warranty-related issues through proper installation and testing. Production Efficiency & Process Improvement A key component of this role is continuous improvement of the manufacturing process . The successful candidate will be expected to actively identify opportunities to: Reduce installation time. Improve wiring and component routing. Reduce unnecessary material usage. Standardize repetitive installations. Improve accessibility for service and maintenance. Reduce rework. Improve workstation organization. Improve installation sequencing. Develop jigs, templates or standardized methods where appropriate. Identify components that could be substituted or standardized. Improve the overall manufacturability of Outerlimits boats. The candidate should be comfortable bringing ideas to the Production Manager and Product Development team and helping test and implement improvements. Product Development Support The Marine Systems Electrician will work closely with the Product Development team during the development and refinement of current and future Outerlimits models.

Responsibilities may include:

Provide practical feedback regarding the manufacturability of new designs. Identify components, systems or installation methods that could improve product performance or reliability. Participate in prototype and new-model builds. Test new components and installation approaches. Identify recurring issues in existing products and recommend solutions. Provide input regarding component accessibility, serviceability and installation. Help evaluate new electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and marine-system technologies. Provide feedback from the factory floor to engineering and product-development personnel. Participate in the validation of new tooling, components and production methods. Technical Problem Solving Diagnose electrical and systems problems using appropriate test equipment and technical documentation. Troubleshoot complex electrical and electronic systems. Diagnose wiring, grounding, voltage-drop and connectivity issues. Identify mechanical and hydraulic system integration problems when they affect electrical or systems performance. Work independently to resolve technical problems while escalating issues appropriately. Document recurring problems and recommended corrective actions. Documentation & Standardization Follow and help improve wiring diagrams, installation procedures and work instructions. Help create standardized installation procedures for recurring systems. Identify opportunities for improved documentation. Maintain accurate labeling and identification of wiring, components and systems. Provide technical input for Bills of Materials and component specifications. Assist in documenting new installation methods as new models and options are introduced. Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is an experienced marine technician who combines excellent technical skills with a strong manufacturing mindset . We are looking for someone who: Has 5+ years of relevant experience in marine electrical systems, boat rigging or a closely related field. Has significant hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting marine electrical systems. Understands both electrical systems and the interaction between electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and plumbing systems on boats. Can read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings. Has strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Takes pride in clean, organized and professional workmanship. Is extremely attentive to detail. Understands the importance of consistency and repeatability in manufacturing. Is comfortable working on complex, high-performance boats. Can work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments. Is proactive about identifying problems and proposing improvements. Is willing to teach and share technical knowledge with other members of the production team. Has a strong safety mindset. Is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience Experience with the following is highly desirable: High-performance powerboats Custom or low-volume boat manufacturing Fiberglass/composite boat construction Marine electrical systems Marine electronics Hydraulic steering and trim systems Engine and propulsion-system integration NMEA 2000 and marine networking Garmin, Simrad, Raymarine or similar marine electronics Mercury, Mercury Racing, Ilmor, Volvo Penta or similar propulsion systems Lithium battery systems and advanced battery management Shore power and AC systems Audio and entertainment systems Custom electrical installations Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic equipment Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S or other continuous-improvement methodologies is a plus. Education & Certifications Formal education in Electrical Technology, Marine Technology, Electronics, Engineering or a related technical field is preferred but not required. Relevant professional certifications, manufacturer training or equivalent hands-on experience are highly valued.
