Overview We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our in-house maintenance and renovation team. This position is ideal for a skilled electrician who takes pride in quality workmanship and is comfortable working independently on complete apartment electrical rewiring projects . Our properties include older apartment buildings with aluminum wiring , and a primary responsibility of this position will be bringing apartment electrical systems up to current electrical code through complete or substantial rewiring. Responsibilities Completely rewire apartment units, including replacement of aluminum wiring with approved modern wiring systems Install and replace electrical outlets, switches, fixtures, breakers, panels, and other electrical components Diagnose and repair electrical problems Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable Virginia electrical codes and safety requirements Work from plans, scopes of work, and project specifications Remove and replace wiring in walls, ceilings, and other concealed areas Remove sheetrock as necessary to access electrical systems Assist with basic demolition and preparation associated with rewiring projects Coordinate electrical work with maintenance staff an electrical assistant Maintain a clean and safe work area throughout each project Properly document completed work and materials used Order appropriate materials needed for each project Respond to other electrical service needs throughout our properties, as required Qualifications Journeyman Electrician license required Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems and current electrical code Demonstrated experience with complete residential/apartment rewiring Experience working with and replacing aluminum wiring strongly preferred Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems and identify code and safety issues Comfortable performing demolition, including sheetrock removal Ability to read electrical plans and understand wiring diagrams Must be able to work independently and manage projects from start to finish Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Valid driver's license and dependable transportation Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, work in tight spaces, and perform physically demanding construction work What We Offer Stable, year-round, in-house employment No residential service-call business or traveling from customer to customer Consistent work within our apartment communities Opportunity to take ownership of substantial renovation projects Competitive pay based on experience and qualifications Full benefits package to include Life, Health, Dental, Retirement, Voluntary Short Term Disability Professional, established property management company The Ideal Candidate We are looking for a skilled, dependable electrician—not simply someone who can change outlets and troubleshoot service calls.
