Estimator / Project Manager

Job Description

Estimator / Project Manager Delta, Colorado | Full-Time Civil Site Construction | Infrastructure Utilities | Concrete & Asphalt You will be working for a full-service site construction company specializing in civil site development for parks, municipalities, commercial facilities, and public-use projects. Our work includes complete site development, infrastructure utilities, earthwork, building pads, parking lots, concrete and asphalt paving and related civil infrastructure. Our mission—Bringing Visions to Life, Laying Foundations for Growth—reflects how we approach every project: with accountability, quality, safety, and a commitment to delivering exceptional results. We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Project Manager based in or near Delta, Colorado to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the full project lifecycle—from estimating and bidding through scheduling, execution, and final closeout. The ideal candidate understands civil/site construction and infrastructure utilities, can build accurate and competitive estimates, and has the project-management skills to turn those estimates into well-planned, properly scheduled, profitable projects delivered on time. What You'll Do Estimating & Preconstruction Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for civil/site construction, infrastructure utilities, concrete, asphalt, and related scopes. Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from civil, grading, utility, and site-development plans. Develop labor, equipment, material, subcontractor, and production-cost estimates. Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing. Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and contracts to identify scope requirements, exclusions, risks, and opportunities. Identify constructability issues and value-engineering opportunities. Develop preliminary construction schedules during the estimating and preconstruction process, identifying sequencing, durations, manpower, equipment requirements, procurement lead times, and critical milestones. Prepare bid packages and support bid reviews prior to submission. Participate in project handoff from estimating to construction. Project Management & Scheduling Manage assigned projects from award through final completion and closeout with responsibility for schedule, budget, quality, and overall project performance. Develop, maintain, and actively manage detailed project schedules from mobilization through completion. Establish project milestones, activity sequencing, production expectations, and critical-path activities necessary to meet contractual completion dates. Develop short-term look-ahead schedules and regularly update overall project schedules based on actual field progress. Coordinate labor, equipment, subcontractors, material deliveries, inspections, and procurement around the project schedule to maintain continuous and efficient production. Identify potential schedule delays or conflicts early, develop recovery plans, and take corrective action to protect project completion dates. Work closely with field leadership to establish weekly production goals and ensure crews understand upcoming work, sequencing, and schedule expectations. Coordinate schedules and dependencies with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, municipalities, and other project stakeholders. Monitor actual job costs against estimate and budget throughout the project. Maintain current cost-to-complete and project profitability forecasts. Evaluate the financial impact of schedule changes, delays, productivity issues, and changes in project sequencing. Identify potential cost overruns early and take corrective action. Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontract agreements. Ensure additional work is properly documented, priced, approved, and billed. Conduct or participate in project meetings with owners, general contractors, engineers, municipalities, and other stakeholders. Coordinate inspections and ensure work conforms to plans, specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards. Work closely with field leadership to solve problems and keep projects moving safely and efficiently. Manage project closeout, punch-list completion, documentation, and final billing. What We're Looking For Experience estimating and/or managing civil site construction, infrastructure utilities, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, or related construction projects. Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, and manage construction schedules and coordinate multiple crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and project milestones. Strong understanding of construction sequencing, production rates, critical-path activities, procurement lead times, and the relationship between schedule performance and project profitability. Ability to recognize schedule risks early and proactively develop solutions to keep projects on track. Strong ability to read and interpret civil plans, grading plans, utility drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Working knowledge of site-development construction methods, sequencing, production rates, labor requirements, and equipment utilization. Understanding of infrastructure utility installation, earthwork, and concrete/asphalt construction practices. Strong understanding of construction costs, job costing, budgeting, and project profitability. Experience with construction estimating, scheduling, and project-management software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, or comparable platforms. Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple estimates and active projects simultaneously. Professional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop strong working relationships with customers, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel. Valid driver's license and ability to travel to projects throughout the Delta area and surrounding markets. Education & Experience A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not required. We place significant value on practical construction experience. Candidates with substantial field, estimating, superintendent, or project-management experience are strongly encouraged to apply regardless of formal education. The Person We're Looking For We're looking for more than someone who can produce estimates or administer projects. We want someone who takes ownership. The right person understands that a successful project starts with a disciplined estimate and a realistic, well-developed construction schedule and ends with a satisfied customer and a profitable job. They understand how production, sequencing, manpower, equipment, procurement, and schedule all affect the bottom line. They anticipate problems instead of reacting to them, communicate schedule changes early, hold themselves and others accountable, and work closely with field and office teams to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and moving forward. If you're a construction professional who wants the opportunity to estimate the work, plan the work, schedule the work, and then manage it successfully from start to finish, we'd like to hear from you.
