This position is a rare opportunity to join a longstanding company in a critical role that will be fundamental to our next level of growth. The Estimator will be reporting to the Pre-Construction Coordinator and Chief Executive Officer of Wilber Enterprises, LLC d/b/a Build-Co and operating out of the Corporate Offices in Ava, Missouri. While remote flexibility may be approved in the future, we believe that the success of the team members in this role and the Company is greatly increased through direct in-person communication, especially during the integration period.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OVERVIEW
Estimating (pre-award) Participate in pre-bid meetings, coordinate site visits, and bid reviews Obtain all necessary information, specifications, and drawings for the product to be estimated Evaluate project plans, requirements, specifications, bid documents and project site conditions Perform quantity take-offs, validate productivity rates, and incorporate team feedback into pricing Review labor agreements for work rules and wage Develop means and methods, productivity, and pricing for self-perform work Prepare Requests for Quotes (RFQs) from subcontractor and vendors and ensure completeness of scope Develop and evaluate subcontractor package to determine their capabilities and negotiate best pricing Researching the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor and equipment and production timing Assess the risk levels associated with a project and determine key variables for consideration Develop, consider, and execute strategy to win work Prepare preliminary project schedule and execution plans Prepare detailed project cost estimates (SOVs) and bid package for review with senior leadership Work with senior leadership to determine profit margins Prepare final estimate/proposal package for client presentation Assist Business Development and Sales in the client bid package proposal meetings or lead as directed Track bid invitations, subcontractor responses, and proposal submission Estimating (post-award) Maintains files/records for all related source documents pertaining to product cost and quotes Maintain an up-to-date directory of suppliers, contractors, subcontractors, products, and services Monitor the costs at the different stages of a project to ensure they stay within the estimated costs Assist with the buyout process with vendors and suppliers as needed Prepare post bid information and summary to ensure a clear and smooth hand off to operations Support operations throughout the project as needed with questions or additional bids Lead project debriefs and the integration of lessons learned for future project pursuits Client & Customer Service Prompt responses to action items, owner and consultant issues, manage priorities Assist with Business Development and Sales by embracing the client's goals and engage with key stakeholders and suppliers to help meet the client's goals and build their dream as required Financial Oversight Assist in the set up and keep updated a database of unit costs Review job costs during and after the project with Project Managers to improve the estimating process Develop and refine work methods with project managers, engineers, and others to maintain a competitive edge in all estimates Provide weekly reporting updates to management, lenders, and interested parties Utilize project management systems to establish budgets and monitor project financial status Monitor scope changes, identifying opportunities for additional revenue or cost savings Supplier & Subcontractor Development Build and maintain long-term relationships with subcontractors, architects, and local engineers with a focus on improving competitive pricing and the quality of service Review all contract documents thoroughly to ensure compliance with specifications and appropriateness of commercial items Continuously monitor vendor performance and review with co-workers Continuous Improvement Be an embodiment and example of the company's core values Identify gaps, risk, shortfalls, overruns, or misses within a project and learn how to correct timely Provide leadership in strengthening internal and external communication across the team Represent the company at client meetings, presentations, and industry engagements as needed Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational webinars and workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; and joining professional societies All other responsibilities to be assigned by your supervisor or the Company
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION / PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE
5+ years of construction estimating or equivalent experience Bachelor's degree in business, finance, engineering, or construction / project management (preferred) Ability to read construction blueprints, plans, and complete take-off quantities (preferred) Proficient knowledge about construction trades, operations, and materials Experience preparing bids is a plus Use of cost estimation software is a plus Familiarity with construction management software is a plus Must be able to and willing to travel as needed (10-25%) (not expected, but if needed)

Pay:
$50,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
