Header Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Commercial HVAC Design Estimator to join our innovative engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) projects. Your expertise will help drive project success by providing precise estimates that align with client specifications and industry standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to complex mechanical systems design and collaborate across multiple departments to ensure seamless project execution. What you'll do Analyze project drawings, schematics, and specifications to develop comprehensive HVAC cost estimates. Collaborate with design engineers, project managers, and clients to understand project scope and technical requirements. Utilize advanced CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools to review mechanical drawings and schematics. Perform detailed quantity take-offs, including ductwork, piping, equipment, and accessories, ensuring accuracy through tolerance analysis and mechanical knowledge. Apply project scheduling techniques to coordinate estimate timelines with overall project milestones. Conduct root cause analysis on design or estimation discrepancies to improve accuracy in future projects. Prepare detailed bid proposals, including cost breakdowns, material lists, and labor estimates aligned with ASME codes & standards. Engage in cross-functional communication with manufacturing teams and engineering product development to ensure estimations reflect manufacturing capabilities and constraints. Qualifications Proven experience practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role with a focus on mechanical product development projects. Strong mechanical engineering background with extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, machine design, and mechanical drafting. Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or similar tools for mechanical drafting and 3D modeling for product design. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for integrated project planning. Experience with schematic creation, mechanical drawings, mechanical detail drawings, and schematics for HVAC systems. Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), FEA (Finite Element Analysis), MATLAB/Simulink for engineering simulations is a plus. Ability to perform tolerance analysis and root cause analysis to troubleshoot estimation issues effectively. Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks within tight deadlines. Excellent cross-functional communication skills to liaise between design teams, manufacturing units, and clients effectively. Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME codes & standards relevant to HVAC system design.
