JOB FUNCTION
The Quoting Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the Sales Department by preparing accurate cost analyses and developing customer quotations. This position is responsible for evaluating project requirements, gathering pricing and design information from internal stakeholders, maintaining the quote intake process, and creating detailed Excel-based pricing models. The ideal candidate will ensure all estimates remain accurate, consistent, and aligned with company pricing standards throughout the quoting lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Develop accurate, detailed, and timely cost estimates for assigned opportunities and projects. Utilize Microsoft Excel pricing models to calculate labor, material, and hardware costs. Examine construction drawings, specifications, and supporting documents to generate comprehensive labor and material quotations. Review contract documentation and project requirements to identify scope, deliverables, and potential project constraints. Perform research and analysis using internal systems and external resources, including prevailing wage data, frost line information, historical project pricing, and comparable estimates. Ensure all pricing aligns with company cost structures, budgeting expectations, and internal pricing guidelines. Present estimate details and pricing insights to leadership, project management, and accounting teams to support strategic planning and decision-making. Work collaboratively with Purchasing, Engineering, Construction, Sales, and Accounting departments to obtain accurate project information, pricing updates, and design specifications. Provide innovative and cost-conscious solutions for projects that fall outside established processes or standard scopes. Identify opportunities to improve quoting and estimating workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and competitiveness. Complete additional duties, assignments, and special projects as needed.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency, including formulas, VLOOKUPs, IF statements, and cost modeling techniques. Strong analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to accurately calculate percentages, proportions, discounts, and pricing adjustments. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in a deadline-driven environment. Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly and professionally. Strong organizational and time-management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Engineering, Accounting, and Purchasing. Self-motivated professional capable of working independently while contributing to team objectives. Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities, sound judgment, and practical decision-making skills. Proven reliability through consistent attendance and dependable performance. Familiarity with sales operations and a general understanding of construction industry practices is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Previous experience in construction estimating, construction-related industries, or other technical environments is highly preferred. Equivalent combinations of relevant work experience and education will be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Frequent periods of sitting or standing at a workstation. Occasional movement required to access files, attend meetings, or handle materials. Must be able to lift and carry light objects (typically under 30 lbs.) as needed.
