09/07/2026 Job Description Job Description (Brookshire, TX): Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a Structural Estimator for a confidential client. The Structural Estimator will be responsible for bidding projects involving the design/build, engineering, fabrication, and assembly of structural components, process systems, and modular systems. This individual will evaluate project scope, identify potential risks and opportunities, and develop accurate, competitive estimates while maintaining a strategic position throughout the estimating phase of each project.
Essential Duties:
Gather and analyze project data to perform complete lump-sum takeoffs for material, labor, vendor, and other project-related costs using design drawings and specifications. Review and interpret client specifications, structural and architectural drawings, engineering documents, and standard details to ensure the full project scope is captured. Prepare estimates and proposals for structural steel, miscellaneous metals, detailing, and other project-specific requirements or special conditions. structural steel requirements. Identify potential risks, opportunities, complex fabrication scenarios, allowances, exclusions, and other factors that may impact project cost or execution. Coordinate with customers, vendors, internal personnel, operations, management, and subject matter experts to gather accurate cost and scope information. Develop detailed scopes of work, inclusions, exclusions, qualifications, and other documentation for management review and customer proposals. Maintain an understanding of purchasing, detailing, engineering, fabrication, erection, scheduling, coatings, and shipping as they relate to structural steel projects. Work closely with the Estimating Manager to maintain estimating schedules and prioritize workload. Participate in pre-award meetings, project handoff meetings, and other discussions with internal and external stakeholders. Assist in defining and clarifying project scope with project stakeholders and operational teams. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Skills:
2+ years of experience in structural estimating, structural detailing, shop fabrication, project management, engineering, or a related field. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Experience with unit pricing estimating is highly preferred. Ability to read, interpret, and identify changes within structural and architectural drawings and specifications. Knowledge of structural design, steel fabrication processes, applicable codes, and industry standards. Familiarity with AISC standards and

structural steel requirements. Strong mathematical, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate across multiple disciplines and organizational levels. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with limited supervision. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Experience with material handling or estimating software such as EJE and Tekla EPM/FabSuite is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with customers, vendors, management, operations, and internal departments.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work primarily in a standard office environment with frequent sitting and computer use. Ability to occasionally visit shop or fabrication environments, which may include exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and forklift traffic. Ability to travel occasionally between company locations and for vendor or client meetings as needed.
