MTC is seeking a commercial construction estimator to join our Newport News, Virginia Division. Duties include plan and specification review; document control; quantity takeoffs; material pricing; soliciting subcontractors; scope review; attending and/or hosting pre-bid meetings/site visits; coordinating with Owners, Designers, and Project Management Staff; full bid/proposal preparation and submission. Skills needed

• Assisting the Preconstruction Manager in any and all duties to provide thorough and accurate bids and proposals for perspective clients.
• Understanding of building construction and its associated building assemblies.
• Ability to accurately navigate and interpret project drawings and specifications.
• Experience performing quantity takeoffs.
• Ability to solicit potential bidders and garner interest in projects.
• Help build and maintain relationships with existing and new subcontractors and suppliers to grow our outreach.
• Be conscientious about achieving deadlines and have an accurate work product.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, including ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
• Assist in assembly of complete bid presentation that clearly communicates project requirements.
• Assist in collaboration with all parties involving pricing and design elements; this includes communication with designers, owners, bidders/subcontractors, and project managers.
• Skill in identifying, pricing, and tracking value engineering options for clients.
• Assist in coordination with Project Managers, Designers and Owners through preconstruction and procurement phase. Qualifications
• A degree in Construction related field or equivalent industry experience is preferred.
• Detail oriented, analytical, and organized.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe, Scheduling, and Estimating Software are desired. Use of Microsoft Excel is a must.
• Experience with Autodesk Build is preferred. . At least 3 years of experience is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License Required.

Pay:

$75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
