About the Opportunity Inside Story Carpet One Floor & Home is seeking an experienced, dependable independent carpet installation contractor serving Grand Junction and Western Colorado. We are a locally owned, family-operated flooring business that has served the area since 1984. We provide flooring for residential, commercial, remodeling, and new-construction projects. This opportunity is best suited to an established installer or installation business that takes pride in professional workmanship, communicates well with customers, and consistently delivers clean, warranty-quality installations. Contract Type and Compensation Independent contractor / 1099 opportunity Piece-rate compensation based on Inside Story's contractor rate schedule Typical gross compensation: $1,500-$3,500 per week, depending on accepted work orders, project type, production, travel, and crew size Project volume and weekly compensation are not guaranteed Contractors may accept or decline individual assignments under the contractor agreement No employee benefits are provided Installation Experience Needed Stretch-in broadloom carpet Glue-down carpet and carpet tile Pattern matching and professional seam construction Carpet padding and tack-strip installation Stairs, landings, hallways, and transitions Removal of existing flooring and job-site preparation Power stretching and proper carpet tensioning Residential and commercial carpet installation Final inspection, cleanup, and customer-ready project completion Contractor Responsibilities Review project scopes and independently accept available work orders Verify job-site conditions and report concerns before installation Install carpet according to manufacturer requirements and accepted industry standards Provide your own professional installation tools, transportation, and safety equipment Protect customers' homes, furnishings, and surrounding finishes Maintain a clean and professional job site Communicate promptly regarding scheduling, material issues, and unexpected conditions Address workmanship-related issues as required by the contractor agreement Submit completed paperwork and project documentation promptly Required Qualifications At least three years of professional carpet installation experience Demonstrated skill with stretch-in carpet, glue-down installations, carpet tile, seams, pattern matching, and stairs An established independent flooring installation business or trade Your own reliable work vehicle and professional carpet-installation tools Ability to provide a completed W-9 General liability insurance Proof of required workers' compensation coverage or a valid Colorado rejection or exemption, as applicable Appropriate coverage for any helpers or crew members Professional references and photographs or examples of completed work Reliable communication and a strong customer-service mindset Ability to safely handle carpet rolls, padding, tools, and other installation materials What Inside Story Offers Opportunities to accept residential and commercial installation projects Clear project scopes and contractor rate information before work is accepted Material and project coordination through an experienced local flooring team Potential for recurring assignments based on customer demand, contractor availability, and installation quality Payment according to the written contractor agreement and rate schedule Independent Contractor Notice This is an independent contractor opportunity and not a W-2 employee position. Contractors are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, tools, transportation, helpers, and business expenses. No employee benefits, guaranteed hours, or guaranteed project volume are provided. The actual working relationship and written contractor agreement will govern all assignments. Pay:
