This position is responsible for the entire tinting process—from preparing vehicles and cutting film to installation, final quality control, customer-ready presentation, and proper maintenance of the tinting workspace and equipment. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, works efficiently without sacrificing quality, keeps their work area organized, and understands that maintaining the shop and equipment is part of the job—not an optional responsibility. Key ResponsibilitiesWindow Tint Installation Professionally install automotive window film on cars, trucks, SUVs, and other approved vehicles. Complete full-vehicle tint installations, front window matches, windshield strips, full windshields, and individual window replacements. Properly inspect vehicles and glass before beginning work. Identify existing scratches, chips, damaged seals, aftermarket electronics, previous tint, or other conditions that could affect installation. Remove existing window film and adhesive when required. Properly clean and prepare glass before installation. Measure, cut, shrink, shape, and install window film accurately. Use plotter-cut and/or hand-cut installation methods when appropriate. Properly heat-shrink rear windows and other curved glass. Protect vehicle interiors, electronics, trim, upholstery, door panels, and surrounding surfaces during installation. Minimize contamination, dust, creases, fingers, light gaps, debris, and other installation defects. Maintain clean and consistent edges around all installations. Reinstall or secure any components moved during the installation process. Perform a complete quality-control inspection before considering a vehicle finished. Correct installation defects when necessary before releasing the vehicle. Clean glass and surrounding areas after installation. Leave every vehicle clean and customer-ready. Tint Film & Inventory Responsibilities Properly handle, store, and organize window film. Keep tint rolls protected from dirt, moisture, damage, and unnecessary waste. Monitor commonly used film shades and materials. Notify management when film, blades, towels, chemicals, installation tools, or other supplies are running low. Minimize material waste through accurate measuring and cutting. Keep film inventory organized and clearly identified. Dispose of backing liners, removed tint, used blades, and other waste properly. Follow company procedures for tracking material usage when required. Equipment Responsibilities The installer is responsible for properly using, cleaning, maintaining, and storing all tint-related equipment, including: Tint plotter/cutting machine Heat guns Squeegees Scrapers Knives and blades Spray bottles Installation boards/glass Extension cords Work lights Steamer or tint-removal equipment Microfiber towels Cleaning tools and chemicals Ladders or stools Computer/software used for tint patterns Any other company-provided tinting equipment Equipment must be returned to its designated location after use. Damaged, malfunctioning, or missing equipment must be reported to management immediately. Shop Upkeep & Cleaning Maintaining the shop is a required part of this position. The Window Tint Installer is expected to: Keep the tint installation area clean throughout the workday. Sweep and clean floors regularly to minimize dust and contamination. Keep tint bays free of unnecessary tools, trash, film scraps, and clutter. Empty trash as needed. Clean installation surfaces and work tables. Keep tools organized in their designated locations. Clean and maintain the plotter and surrounding work area. Keep chemicals and supplies properly stored. Maintain clean microfiber towels and separate contaminated towels when necessary. Keep customer waiting areas and visible shop areas presentable when assigned. Assist with general shop organization and cleaning during downtime. Help maintain bathrooms, storage areas, work bays, and common areas when assigned. Ensure doors, equipment, lights, and work areas are properly secured or shut down at the end of the day. Immediately clean spills, standing water, adhesive residue, film scraps, or other potential hazards. Help maintain an environment suitable for high-quality tint installations. There is always productive work to be completed in the shop. When tint appointments are finished or there is downtime, the employee is expected to assist with cleaning, organization, inventory, equipment maintenance, vehicle preparation, or other reasonable shop-related duties. Quality Standards Every installation should meet S3 Detailing's standards for professional workmanship and presentation.

The installer is expected to:

Inspect their own work before requesting final approval. Maintain consistent installation quality from vehicle to vehicle. Avoid unnecessary film waste or vehicle damage. Immediately report any accidental damage or installation issue. Never attempt to hide damage, mistakes, or installation defects. Redo work when necessary to meet company quality standards. Follow manufacturer installation procedures and company standards. Take before-and-after photos when required. Document existing vehicle damage before beginning work when applicable. Maintain a clean final presentation of the vehicle. Customer Service Treat every customer's vehicle with care and respect. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Communicate respectfully with customers and coworkers. Answer basic tint-care questions accurately. Explain curing expectations and aftercare instructions when required. Never make unauthorized promises regarding pricing, warranties, scheduling, or services. Notify management of customer concerns immediately. Maintain customer privacy and professionalism at all times. Safety & Vehicle Protection Follow all shop safety procedures. Use blades, heat guns, steamers, chemicals, and electrical equipment responsibly. Never leave a heat gun or other heated equipment unattended. Use appropriate protection around dashboards, electronics, leather, plastics, headliners, and door panels. Follow proper procedures around rear-window defroster lines. Use caution around antennas, sensors, cameras, wiring, and other vehicle technology. Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Report injuries, vehicle damage, equipment damage, and unsafe conditions immediately. Required Qualifications Experience installing automotive window tint is strongly preferred. Ability to consistently produce clean, professional installations. Knowledge of automotive glass preparation and film installation techniques. Experience heat-shrinking film. Comfortable using tint knives, blades, heat guns, squeegees, plotters, and related tools. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Ability to follow company procedures and instructions. Reliable transportation. Valid driver's license. Ability to safely move customer vehicles when authorized. Dependable attendance and punctuality. Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace. Strong time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment. Preferred Qualifications Previous professional automotive tinting experience. Experience with ceramic window film. Experience with windshield installations. Experience using computerized tint-cutting software and plotters. Experience removing old or damaged window tint. Automotive detailing, PPF, vinyl, or other automotive appearance experience is a plus. Familiarity with North Carolina automotive tint requirements is a plus. Physical Requirements The position regularly requires: Standing for extended periods. Bending, kneeling, reaching, and working in confined vehicle interiors. Repetitive hand and arm movements. Working around vehicles in varying temperatures. Safely lifting and carrying tools, equipment, film, and supplies. Maintaining steady hand control for precision cutting and installation. Attendance & Scheduling Expectations Employees are expected to: Arrive on time and ready to work at the scheduled start time. Notify management as early as possible regarding an absence or emergency. Complete assigned vehicles within reasonable production timelines while maintaining quality. Remain productive during gaps between scheduled vehicles. Assist with shop duties when tint work is not immediately available. Follow the company's scheduling, break, attendance, and timekeeping procedures. Performance Expectations Performance may be evaluated based on: Installation quality Number of comebacks or warranty issues Installation efficiency Customer satisfaction Film/material waste Vehicle protection Cleanliness of work area Equipment care Attendance and punctuality Ability to follow procedures Productivity during downtime Teamwork and professionalism Repeated preventable installation failures, excessive material waste, vehicle damage, poor equipment care, failure to maintain the shop, or failure to follow established procedures may result in corrective action. General Responsibilities The Window Tint Installer may also be asked to perform reasonable duties necessary for the operation of S3 Detailing, including assisting with vehicle movement, vehicle preparation, cleaning, inventory, receiving supplies, shop organization, and other automotive appearance services for which the employee has been properly trained.
