Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Weatherization Crew Member and play a vital role in improving energy efficiency and comfort for our community members. In this energetic position, you will be responsible for performing weatherization tasks that enhance building performance, reduce energy costs, and promote sustainable living. Your hands-on work will involve installing insulation, repairing building components, and ensuring safety protocols are strictly followed. This paid role offers an exciting opportunity to develop construction skills while making a positive impact on homes and the environment. Duties Install various types of insulation materials in walls, attics, basements, and crawl spaces according to blueprint specifications and technical drawings Use hand tools and power tools safely to cut, fit, and secure insulation, drywall, stucco, and other building materials Climb ladders and scaffolding confidently to access elevated work areas while adhering to safety protocols Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to accurately follow construction plans for weatherization projects Assist with building metal stud framing, masonry repairs, plastering, and stucco applications as needed Follow safety procedures rigorously during all tasks, including proper use of power tools and ladder safety practices Communicate effectively with clients to explain work processes and address any questions or concerns during project completion Skills Construction estimating skills to assess project scope and material needs accurately Proficiency in ladder use, climbing techniques, and working at heights safely Mechanical knowledge related to building systems and insulation installation techniques Experience with hand tools such as saws, drills, hammers, levels, and measuring devices Construction site experience with a strong understanding of safety protocols and hazard prevention Ability to read blueprints, technical drawings, and interpret construction specifications Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and estimating material quantities Familiarity with installing insulation materials such as fiberglass batts, foam boards, or spray foam insulation Knowledge of masonry work including stucco application and brick or block laying is a plus Experience with metal stud framing for interior partitions or exterior walls is desirable Understanding of power tool safety standards for drills, saws, sanders, etc. Strong client communication skills to ensure clear understanding of work performed and address client needs effectively Join us in this energetic role where your craftsmanship will directly contribute to creating warmer homes and more energy-efficient communities. Will be required to pass criminal history check. Must have a valid Michigan driver's license, an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.
