Job Summary:
Apex Waste Solutions is seeking a skilled Fleet Welder to join our maintenance team. This role is responsible for performing high-quality welding, fabrication, and repair work on company vehicles, containers, and equipment. The ideal candidate will also be capable of completing painting and finishing tasks to ensure all repairs meet company safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding on trucks, trailers, roll-off containers, compactors, and related waste-industry equipment. Diagnose structural issues and complete repairs, reinforcements, and fabrications as needed. Conduct cutting, grinding, drilling, and metal preparation work to support maintenance and repair tasks. Prepare surfaces and apply primer, protective coatings, and finish paint to equipment, containers, and repaired components. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders. Ensure all welding and painting work meets safety regulations, quality standards, and OEM specifications. Inspect equipment for signs of wear, fatigue, or damage and recommend corrective actions. Maintain equipment, tools, and the work area in clean and safe condition. Collaborate with mechanics, technicians, and fleet managers to support operational needs. Complete required documentation including repair logs, inspection reports, and parts usage.
Qualification & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or welding certification preferred. Minimum 2-3 years of welding experience (MIG, TIG, stick), ideally in fleet, heavy equipment, or industrial settings. Proficiency in painting, coating, and surface preparation. Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, metal properties, and welding safety practices. Ability to operate welding and fabrication tools, cutting torches, grinders, and spray painting equipment. Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor in various weather conditions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship. Valid driver's license.
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, Monday through Friday 630am - 330pm (hours may vary, occasional Saturdays) On Site Shop environment with occasional outdoor work. Exposure to noise, welding light, paint fumes, dust, and heavy equipment. Required use of PPE including welding helmets, gloves, respirators, and protective clothing.
Compensation & Benefits:
