$24.00+ per hour DOE (Depending on Experience) Full-Time | Fleet Maintenance & Fabrication Custom Ecology, Inc. (CEI), a solid waste transportation company, is seeking an experienced Industrial/Fleet Welder & Fabricator to join our Jacksonville/Baldwin operation. This is not an entry-level welding position. We are looking for a true, experienced fabricator who is comfortable working on everything from Class 8 trucks and trailers to aluminum, tankers, heavy steel, structural components and facility repairs. The right person can look at a damaged component or fabrication project, determine the correct repair approach, select the appropriate process and material, and complete a safe, professional repair. CEI operates heavy commercial equipment in a demanding solid-waste environment. PAY Starting at $24.00+ per hour DOE Higher compensation may be available based on demonstrated experience with aluminum, heavy fabrication, Class 8 trucks, commercial trailers, tankers and structural welding. INDLP Job Requirements:
EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Candidates should have hands-on experience with: MIG welding TIG welding Stick/SMAW welding Carbon and mild steel Aluminum Stainless steel Heavy plate and structural steel Class 8 trucks and commercial trailers Tankers and specialty trailers, Heavy Equipment Trailer floors, crossmembers, frames and structural components Structural and building repairs Brackets, mounts, guards and custom fabrication Cutting, grinding, fitting and finishing Plasma cutting and torch work Reading measurements, drawings and fabrication layouts
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform welding and fabrication repairs on Class 8 trucks and commercial trailers Repair trailer frames, floors, crossmembers, doors, hinges and structural components Perform aluminum trailer and body repairs Perform appropriate repairs on tanker and specialty equipment Fabricate brackets, guards, mounts and replacement components Perform structural steel repairs around CEI facilities Assist with building, handrail, stair, platform and equipment repairs Cut, fit, tack and weld components from measurements or drawings Properly prepare material before welding Identify cracks, fatigue, corrosion and previous improper repairs Determine when damaged material should be repaired versus replaced Select the proper welding process, filler material and preparation method for the application Maintain welding equipment and a clean, safe work area Document completed repairs as required
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
3+ years of professional welding/fabrication experience preferred Demonstrated ability to weld both steel and aluminum Commercial truck and trailer repair experience strongly preferred Structural fabrication experience Ability to work from measurements, drawings or an existing damaged component Strong fitting and fabrication skills Ability to determine the proper welding process for different materials and applications Ability to recognize when a structural repair requires additional evaluation before welding Must understand heat control, penetration, distortion and material preparation Must be able to work independently and produce clean, structurally sound repairs Welding certifications are a plus but demonstrated ability and experience matter.
