$24.00-$28.00 per hour, based on experience Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Structural Fitter for a fabrication shop in Decatur, AL. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience fitting plates and structural members, reading blueprints and layout drawings, and preparing components for welding and assembly. This role requires strong attention to detail, safe work habits, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced shop environment. Responsibilities Fit plates, beams, angles, channels, and other structural members according to shop drawings and specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, layout drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions. Measure, mark, align, and position materials for fabrication and welding. Use hand tools, power tools, squares, tape measures, clamps, grinders, cutting equipment, and other fabrication shop tools. Tack fit components and prepare assemblies for welding. Check fit-up, dimensions, alignment, and quality throughout the fabrication process. Work closely with welders, supervisors, and other team members to complete projects accurately and on schedule. Maintain a clean and safe work area while following all safety procedures and shop policies. Requirements Previous experience as a structural fitter, fabricator, or similar role in a fabrication shop. Must know how to fit plates and structural members. Ability to read and understand blueprints, tape measures, and fabrication drawings. Experience using shop tools and equipment safely and accurately. Ability to perform accurate layout, measuring, fitting, and tack-up work. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work. Reliable attendance and ability to work 1st shift in Decatur, AL. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, and move throughout the shift. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials as required in a fabrication shop setting. Comfortable working around steel materials, welding operations, grinders, cutting tools, and overhead material handling equipment. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear required personal protective equipment. Schedule and Compensation This is a 1st shift position located in Decatur, AL. Pay range is $24.00-$28.00 per hour, depending on experience and skill level.
