About the Role As a Field Surgical Instrument Specialist, you will ensure medical equipment remains in peak condition through expert inspection, refurbishment, and precision maintenance. By operating from a mobile service unit, you will deliver high-quality technical support directly to healthcare facilities, ensuring that critical surgical tools meet all safety and compliance standards. Responsibilities Execute precision repairs on surgical instrumentation, including sharpening, shaping, hinge adjustments, and serration restoration. Perform surface finishing tasks such as ultrasonic cleaning, buffing, and polishing to restore instrument functionality. Conduct Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMI) to extend the lifecycle of medical assets and reduce equipment downtime. Manage accurate documentation, including work orders and service reports, to maintain regulatory compliance and transparency. Operate a mobile service vehicle safely, adhering to all DOT regulations and internal fleet safety protocols. Collaborate with healthcare staff to provide timely solutions that support seamless surgical operations. Utilize specialized technical skills in brazing, grinding, and soldering to resolve complex equipment issues. Qualifications Required Skills Proven experience in technical repair, maintenance, or precision mechanical work. Strong mechanical aptitude with proficiency in grinding, soldering, and metalworking techniques. Ability to maintain detailed service records and manage daily administrative reporting. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Commitment to workplace safety, including the proper use of protective equipment. Preferred Skills Prior experience working with surgical or delicate medical instrumentation. Background in automotive repair or mobile field service environments. Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, customer-facing role. Knowledge of medical device regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
