POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for raising, placing, and connecting girders, columns, and other structural-steel members to form completed structure or framework. Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures\nSet up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural-steel members\nFasten steel members to cable of hoist using chain, cable or rope\nSignal worker operating hoisting equipment to lift and place steel member\nGuide member using tab line (rope) or ride on member in order to guide it into position\nPull, push or pry steel members into approximate position while member is supported by hoisting device\nForce members into final position using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks and hand tools\nAlign holes in member with corresponding holes in previously placed member by drifting drift pins or handle of wrench through holes\nVerify vertical and horizontal alignment of members, using plumb bob and level\nBolt aligned members to keep them in position until they can be permanently bolted or welded in place\nCut and weld steel members to make alterations, using oxyacetylene welding equipment\nMay be required to travel to different jobsites on limited notice\nMaintain a professional appearance\nOther duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience\nNCCER Certification/License (preferred)\nMinimum 4 years of experience in Ironworker role

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.\nWhen on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.\nSet a personal example of safe behavior.\nRead and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals\nAdd and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and ability to perform these operations using units weight measurement and volume\nCommon sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form\nAbility to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards\nOther may duties may be assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.\nMay need to maintain physical strength and stamina; Use arms, hands, and legs fully; Push, pull, and frequently lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds; and stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks.\nStamina to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals.\nUncontrolled environmental conditions: Constant change in weather and site conditions.\nThis work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.\nAbility to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.).\nMove in and around confined, cluttered, and uneven areas.\nMay need to work at heights and must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements; must be able to wear and utilize all safety equipment required for work at heights.\nEvaluate information based on measurable standards; and see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings.\nVisualize objects in three dimensions from drawings.\nKeep good balance and work at heights.\nSee well (either naturally or with correction).\nHear well (either naturally or with correction.)\nCoordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet.

HOURS:

This position is a Full-Time position scheduled to work typically 50 hours per week. Schedule is subject to projects requirements.

TRAVEL:

Travel required up to 90%. Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record.
