Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and dependable Semi Trailer Service Technician with strong welding experience to inspect, repair, and maintain a wide range of semi-trailers. This role requires hands-on mechanical ability, fabrication skills, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship. Key Responsibilities Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on semi-trailers (dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, tankers, etc.). Conduct structural repairs including welding, cutting, and fabrication of steel and aluminum components. Repair or replace trailer components such as:
Floors, walls, roofs, and doors
Landing gear and suspension systems
Brake systems (air brakes, ABS)
Lighting and electrical systems Diagnose issues and determine appropriate repair solutions.
Perform preventative maintenance and DOT inspections. Operate shop equipment safely (welders, torches, grinders, lifts, etc.). Maintain accurate service records and documentation. Ensure all work meets company standards and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration regulations. Keep work area clean and organized. Required Qualifications 2+ years of experience in trailer repair, heavy equipment, or related field. Proficient in MIG and/or TIG welding (steel and aluminum preferred). Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of air brake systems and trailer components. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Valid driver's license (CDL is a plus but not required). Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment. Preferred Qualifications Certification in welding or diesel mechanics. Experience with ABS systems and electrical diagnostics. Familiarity with DOT inspection procedures. CDL (Class A) is a plus. Work Environment Shop and outdoor work environment.
