Ivy Studio is an established landscape design-build practice creating exceptional residential landscapes throughout Greater Boston and the South Shore . We believe thoughtful design deserves exceptional execution—and that the best client experience comes from one team guiding every stage of the process, from the first sketch through the final installation. Our work focuses on estate-scale residential properties, with projects typically ranging from $500,000 to more than $1 million . We intentionally remain boutique, allowing us to stay deeply involved in every project and deliver exceptional design, craftsmanship, and service. The Opportunity We're seeking an experienced design and construction leader to partner directly with the Principal in delivering some of the region's finest residential landscapes. This position reports directly to the Principal and plays a central role in shaping the design, execution, and client experience of every project. This is not a production drafting role or a traditional management position. You'll help develop the creative direction of each project, guide it through documentation and permitting, and lead construction through completion. You'll have meaningful responsibility for design, project delivery, budgets, client relationships, subcontractor selection, and field execution, helping shape the future of Ivy Studio. One day you may be presenting a concept to a client, the next refining grading details, and the next walking a job site with a mason or site contractor. If you enjoy both the creative and technical sides of the profession—and take equal pride in thoughtful design and exceptional execution—you'll feel at home here. What You'll Do Partner with the Principal to develop projects from concept through construction. Prepare and oversee construction documentation, including grading, drainage, layout, planting, and hardscape detailing. Manage project budgets, subcontractor bidding, buyout, and cost control. Serve as the primary client contact throughout design and construction. Coordinate architects, engineers, builders, consultants, and subcontractors. Lead field execution, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and true to the design intent. Manage permitting, including conservation, wetlands, and zoning approvals. Contribute to the continued refinement of Ivy Studio's design standards, project delivery, and operations. QualificationsRequired Seven or more years of experience leading high-end residential landscape design-build projects. Experience managing projects valued at $500,000 to $1 million or more. Demonstrated responsibility for both design and construction execution. Experience soliciting, evaluating, and negotiating subcontractor bids. Strong client leadership and communication skills. Proficiency producing construction-level documentation. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout Greater Boston and the South Shore. Preferred Massachusetts Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), or eligibility for licensure. Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field. Familiarity with Massachusetts conservation, wetlands, and zoning permitting. Experience preparing project budgets and cost estimates. If you're strong in the required qualifications but don't meet every preferred qualification, we'd still encourage you to apply. Tools & Technology Experience with AutoCAD, Vectorworks Landmark (or similar), SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and project management platforms such as JobTread, Procore, or Buildertrend. Experience with Lumion or Enscape is a plus. Compensation & Benefits Base salary of $130,000-$165,000 , depending on experience and licensure Performance bonus tied to project profitability Structured long-term ownership opportunity Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid time off and holidays Mileage reimbursement for project travel Professional development support, including ASLA dues and RLA exam reimbursement A Few Things We'd Love to Know Along with your resume and portfolio, we'd appreciate a brief response to one question: Which project in your portfolio best represents the kind of work you want to be known for, and why? We're simply interested in what matters to you. Ivy Studio is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
