Landscape Estimator/Designer - Landscape Company Position Summary

JOB SUMMARY

The Landscape Estimator/Designer is responsible for developing accurate, profitable estimates and creating landscape designs that meet customer expectations and Brothers Outdoor World standards. This position works directly with customers, Sales, and Operations to develop project concepts, determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements, prepare proposals, and support projects through contract execution and production handoff.

PRIMARY Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations:

• Meet with residential and commercial customers to understand project needs, budget, scope, and design expectations.
• Conduct site visits, take measurements, evaluate site conditions, and identify project requirements.
• Develop professional landscape designs, layouts, concepts, and project recommendations.
• Prepare complete and accurate project estimates including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct project costs.
• Ensure estimates meet company gross margin and profitability requirements before proposals are presented to customers.
• Accurately estimate labor hours and crew requirements for each project.
• Obtain and verify current material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
• Prepare detailed customer proposals and scopes of work.
• Review estimates for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
• Maintain timely follow-up on outstanding estimates and proposals.
• Coordinate with Sales to support the proposal and contract process.
• Work closely with Operations to ensure a complete handoff of sold projects before production begins.
• Clearly communicate project scope, estimated labor hours, materials, equipment needs, subcontractors, and special requirements to Operations.
• Participate in pre-production and job review meetings as required.
• Compare estimated labor hours and project costs to actual results after project completion.
• Review job-costing results and identify estimating variances and opportunities for improvement.
• Maintain accurate estimating, design, customer, and project information within company systems.
• Identify additional work or scope changes and ensure Change Orders are documented, priced, and approved before additional work begins.
• Maintain organized project files, plans, proposals, estimates, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with value engineering and alternative solutions when necessary to meet customer budgets while protecting company profitability.
• Maintain current knowledge of landscape materials, installation practices, industry trends, pricing, and design concepts.
• Support the company's annual landscaping sales and profitability goals. Qualifications
• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
• 3-5 years of landscape design, estimating, construction estimating, or related experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of landscape construction, materials, installation methods, and labor requirements.
• Experience preparing detailed project estimates and proposals.
• Ability to read plans, drawings, measurements, and project specifications.
• Landscape design software and estimating software experience preferred.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
• Strong customer communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and company software systems.

$50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
