In complete alignment with the Company's Vision, Mission Statement and Values and under the direction of the Mine Manager and Production Supervisor, this position operates various mining equipment to perform all excavation and restoration activities at the Cody, Horse Center Mine. Active team member and operational participation to Cody's new mineral business growth. The gypsum mine and plant processing setup is committed to produce mined, crushed and milled gypsum products for the cement industry and agricultural market. Accountable for maintaining a safe work environment, in compliance with MSHA Part 48 regulations and Saint-Gobain Gypsum Mines & Quarries Safety Standards; must recognize unsafe conditions and practices, alert local management and make corrections to prevent injuries and property loss Ability to operate various heavy duty equipment in an open pit environment, efficiently and safely Operates hydraulic excavator to remove topsoil and overburden Use bucket to scrap gypsum bed clean, in preparation of drilling Drives the truck onsite to haul and unload topsoil and overburden material Operates dozer and/or wheel loader to backfill the pit, pushing the overburden in a safety manner Maintains and develops safety berms, mine roads and working/loading pads Topsoil and mined rock stockpiling Operates hydraulic excavator with various attachments to crush and break oversize blasted rock Use bucket to scrap gypsum wall from unstable rocks Loads (as directed) into contractor and customer trucks with mined rock, sizing 15" minus Change attachments, grease and lubricate mine equipment as required Supports equipment refuel operations Sampling from stockpile and drilling chips as directed Dig trenches for water management as needed Assist with restoration activities as needed Maintains strategic rock stock levels as directed Daily inspect mine equipment to remain in safe operating condition. Alert appropriate personnel regarding needed repair Complete and maintain paperwork as directed by manager and/or supervisor Reports directly to the Site Manager and Production Supervisor General clean up and manual labor as required Maintains proactive relationships with truck drivers and customers Openly and honestly communicate with employees and contractors to build trust and effective teamwork. Supports the business identifying losses and continues improvement opportunities Supports blasting crew during hole charging and blasting preparation - if necessary Supports the plant operation and shipments - if necessary Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?
+5 years of experience with heavy duty equipment in construction or mining industry Positive behavioral safety and attitudes MSHA Part 48 training or certifications (Preferred) Class B CDL driver's license (Preferred) Making the best use of time at work, strive to continuously improve quality, production and efficiency Exercise good judgment for work in progress and operation adjustments
