Petroleum Management Services, Inc.

General Laborer / Petroleum Service Tech

Job Description

Who is Petroleum Management? Petroleum Management Services, Inc. (PMSI) is a veteran-owned petroleum infrastructure company specializing in fuel storage tanks, pumps, and piping systems. We have been serving commercial, institutional, and public clients across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island for over 30 years. We train our technicians from the ground up: Nobody else does exactly what we do, so we do not expect candidates to walk in knowing petroleum systems. We expect them to be good hands who want to learn a trade that very few people have. We build technicians first. Once you have the trade, we invest in the licenses and certifications that make you more valuable: oil burner tech, hoisting, confined space entry, electronic monitoring systems, and, for the right technicians, a commercial driver's license. We pay for it. Many of our senior technicians started here as laborers. If you came up through a plumbing, electrical, or welding apprenticeship, or you are coming off a military enlistment and want a trade, this is a good fit. We have hired successfully from all of those backgrounds.
The work:
PMSI provides installation, repair and removal, regulatory compliance inspections, and environmental services to many major hospital systems, commercial real estate owners, schools, and municipalities. Our work includes all aspects of projects including, but not limited to, site work and site restoration, excavation, tank installation and removal, piping, electronic tank monitoring equipment, inspectional services, and remediation work. Additionally, our wholly owned subsidiary, Bullfrog Environmental Solutions, is a licensed hazardous waste transporter, which enables us to better serve our clients by handling petroleum and hazardous waste transportation and disposal in house. Clients look to us for our technical expertise, exceptional service, and longstanding reputation as the area's leading fueling system contractor for emergency generators, industrial boilers, and fleet dispensers. Institutions depend on their on-site fuel systems for standby power, heat, and critical vehicle operations, and that infrastructure is aging. Electronics is where this industry is going: Fuel systems are increasingly electronic. Tank monitoring, leak detection, controls, and diagnostics are becoming the most valuable skill set in the field, and very few people have both the mechanical and the electronic side. The technicians who own that combination work on every job type we run and become the ones clients ask for by name. If you already have monitoring system certifications, we want to talk to you. If you do not, we will train you into it once you have time in the field. That is not a perk, it is the career path. What does the ideal candidate look like? Has 1 to 5 years of construction experience in a related field like plumbing, electrical, welding, or excavation and site work Is interested in learning the petroleum equipment industry's codes, regulations, and best practices Is a team player looking for a great culture with the opportunity for career growth and mentorship Is excited about working for a variety of client types on a variety of projects Is open to inspection, service, and construction work including new system installation, retrofitting, and removal Why work for Petroleum Management? Hands-on exposure and the opportunity to specialize across multiple disciplines: pipefitting, excavation, concrete, asphalt, skid steer and excavator operation, inspectional services, hazardous waste transportation and disposal, and electronic equipment installation and troubleshooting Paid licensing and certification in the credentials that matter: oil burner tech, hoisting, confined space entry, CDL, Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) and monitoring systems, and PEI and manufacturer certifications Comprehensive health benefits including dental 401K with profit sharing component Annual bonus based on company and individual performance Paid vacation time 9 paid holidays Competitive compensation package commensurate with skill and experience Real opportunity for growth. We promote from within and we would rather develop a good athlete than hire a finished product OSHA and safety training Positive and safe work environment
Key Responsibilities:
Must be a self-motivated and reliable person with the desire to learn Ability to work and communicate as a team player Provide clients with high-quality and professional service Perform support activities as directed by the foreman or supervisor for projects that may include tank and piping system installation, service and retrofit, and removal, as well as various environmental projects Assist in regulatory compliance inspections of mechanical systems and electronic leak detection equipment, and work with the team to ensure all inspections and reports are accurate and complete. PMSI provides all appropriate training
Job Requirements:

A combination of work experience and vocational education is acceptable This is an entry-level position with room for growth Experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply. Pay is based on experience Clean driving record Valid driver's license DOT physical Background check and drug test Preferred Qualifications, all optional and all trainable: Licensed Oil Burner Technician Confined space entry and OSHA training MA 2
