The Service Department is seeking a skilled and experienced HVAC Oil Technician who works primarily in existing buildings, doing maintenance, repair, replacement, and fit-out work. They work with and oversee work numerous system parts and mechanisms to maintain, diagnose and correct HVAC system problems. This includes replacing parts and adjusting controls for better performance. They work with customers, dispatchers, interoffice personnel, management, and other technicians to build a high level of teamwork and morale. This critical role involves servicing, maintaining, and troubleshooting oil heating equipment, specifically oil-fired equipment, in commercial environments, knowledgeable of the connected controls, piping, ducting and understanding the operation of commercial air conditioning.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring that our clients' systems operate efficiently and safely. Work closely with clients to diagnose issues, perform repairs, and implement preventative maintenance programs to prolong the life of their equipment. Possesses a strong technical background in HVAC systems, particularly oil burners and related components, combined with excellent customer service skills. Expected to handle various tasks, including routine inspections, emergency repairs, and system installations. quality workmanship and thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
Primary Duties:
Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and systems that are not working. Possess the ability to perform repairs and/or determine if system replacement is needed Perform preventive maintenance on all types of HVAC equipment to verify proper current operation and to watch for potential problems on behalf of our customers Install new oil heaters and make necessary modifications to existing systems. Member of an on-call HVAC rotation Execute emergency repairs and service calls promptly. Act as a trusted adviser to recommend appropriate repairs and upgrades to our customers Discuss pricing, value, and advantages of recommended appropriate repairs and upgrades Understanding and troubleshooting knowledge of the following: Roof top units Cooling tower Heat Pumps Air conditioners Hydronic systems Geothermal units Gas Furnaces & gas boilers Oil furnaces and oil boilers Water heaters of all varieties Build strong customer relationships and build knowledge and understanding of new and existing customer needs/expectations Maintain accurate service records and documentation for each job. Comply with safety standards and regulations while performing all tasks. Perform related work as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred. Valid HVAC technician license or relevant certifications. Proven experience in servicing oil heating systems in a commercial setting. Strong understanding of HVAC systems, particularly oil burners and controls. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Exceptional customer service and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Keeps up with continuing education related to commercial oil trade annually.
