Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a reliable and experienced Heavy Recovery / Rollback Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will safely operate heavy-duty recovery and rollback equipment to transport, recover, and secure disabled, damaged, or improperly parked vehicles and equipment. This position requires strong driving skills, mechanical awareness, attention to safety, and the ability to work independently in a variety of conditions. Key Responsibilities Operate heavy-duty rollback, recovery, and towing equipment safely and efficiently. Respond to vehicle breakdowns, accidents, recoveries, and roadside service calls. Load, secure, transport, and unload vehicles and heavy equipment using proper procedures. Perform winching, recovery, and vehicle extraction operations when required. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, winches, chains, straps, and other recovery equipment. Ensure all loads are properly secured and comply with applicable safety regulations. Assess recovery scenes and determine the safest and most effective recovery method. Communicate professionally with customers, law enforcement, repair facilities, and dispatch personnel. Complete required paperwork, electronic logs, inspection reports, and recovery documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and roadworthy recovery vehicle and equipment. Perform basic roadside troubleshooting and minor mechanical assistance when appropriate. Follow company policies, DOT regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. Respond to emergency and after-hours calls as required. Represent the company professionally and provide excellent customer service. Qualifications Previous experience operating heavy-duty tow, recovery, or rollback equipment preferred. Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) appropriate for the equipment being operated. Clean and safe driving record. Ability to safely operate winches, chains, straps, wheel lifts, and other recovery equipment. Strong understanding of load securement and safe towing/recovery practices. Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to identify common vehicle or equipment issues. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in challenging recovery situations. Strong communication and customer-service skills. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts when required. Must be physically capable of climbing, bending, lifting, pulling, and performing other duties associated with heavy recovery operations. Preferred Qualifications Heavy Recovery / Heavy Duty Towing experience. Experience with large trucks, buses, trailers, RVs, construction equipment, or other heavy equipment. Experience with accident recovery and difficult vehicle extractions. Diesel or heavy-equipment mechanical experience. Air brake and commercial vehicle experience. Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate. Towing and Recovery Association of America (TRAA) certification or other relevant recovery training.
