GravaTerra, LLC

Skid Steer Operator / Gardening Team Member

Job Description

GravaTerra, LLC
  • Marietta, GA
  • Full-time or Part-time | Pay based on experience
  • About Us GravaTerra is a family-run garden and landscape design company based in Marietta
  • "a garden for all seasons," in every sense: gardens with year-round interest, and a company that meets people wherever they are in their own season of life, from a first-time homeowner learning to steward their land to a business wanting to bring a commercial space to life. We're more than a mow-and-blow crew
  • our specialty is real care for garden beds and the land they sit on, from hand pruning and seasonal cutbacks to gravel pathways, dry creek beds, and paver walkways.
Clients tell us things like:
"They turned our dream into reality! Functional and beautiful, we got everything we wanted and more." "Amazing from start to finish! From design to execution, the entire GravaTerra team was such a pleasure to work with." We're small and hands-on, and every person on the crew shapes the final result our clients see. Why GravaTerra You won't be one face in a rotating crew of many. We're a small, family-run team, and the person we hire for this role works alongside a crew of just a few people
  • not a big operation where you're a number on a route sheet.
Every day looks different:
a different property, a different mix of equipment work and hands-on garden work, not the same loop on repeat. We're still growing this company, and we're building it alongside the people who help us build it. There's no rigid corporate ladder here and we're not going to promise you a title we can't back up but if you want more responsibility over time, that's a real conversation we're glad to have as the business grows, not a line we're putting in an ad to sound good. The Role This is a hybrid role
  • part equipment operator, part landscape crew member. You'll run the skid steer for grading and site prep, then move into hands-on crew work (planting, pruning, general labor) the rest of the day. It's not a role where you sit in the machine all day everyday and never touch a plant, or vice versa
  • we need someone genuinely comfortable doing both.
On the equipment side, you'd be working under an owner who's run equipment and managed crews himself for two decades, not learning on the job under someone figuring it out alongside you. What You'll Do Operate a skid steer for both rough grading (site prep, moving material) and fine/finish grading (drainage slopes, planting bed prep, lawn-ready finish work) Run skid steer attachments beyond the buckets as jobs require Drive a truck and trailer to haul equipment and materials between the yard and job sites Split time with hands-on landscape crew work — planting, pruning, and general land care, not just equipment tasks Keep equipment handled safely and properly maintained Work outdoors in all conditions as part of a small, dependable team Non-Negotiables Proven, hands-on experience operating a skid steer, including both rough and fine/finish grading Comfortable running skid steer attachments beyond the bucket Comfortable and experienced driving a truck with a trailer attached (hitching, backing up, hauling) Valid driver's license Willing and able to do hands-on landscape/crew work, not just equipment operation Tolerance for working in all weather
  • rain or shine, cold or hot Ability to work around insects and animals Endurance for physical work and heavy lifting Strong work ethic and a self-starter Nice to Have (Not Required) Some plant knowledge — you don't need to be a horticulturist, but a basic comfort with handling plants is a plus We Especially Welcome Candidates With an Ag or Farming Background If you've worked on a farm, in ag equipment operation, or similar land-based work, we want to hear from you•even if "landscaping" has never been on your resume.
That background usually already covers our non-negotiables above: equipment sense, working outdoors in any weather, and being comfortable around animals and heavy lifting. We can teach the plant side; we can't teach that. Schedule & Pay Full-time or part-time available — let us know what you're looking for Pay is based on experience How to Apply Apply through this posting and note any equipment you've operated and any experience driving a truck and trailer
  • that's the fastest way to move to the top of the list.
Pay:
From $22.00 per hour
Benefits:
Flexible schedule Application Question(s): Do you have experience with skid steer attachments beyond the bucket? ie. trencher Are you comfortable splitting your time between equipment operation and hands-on landscape/crew work (planting/pruning/general labor)? Are you comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, and around insects/animals? Briefly describe your grading experience and which skid steer attachments you've run.
